Cons: it took me 50 minutes to assemble. Pros: No cuts or ripped clothes. Take your time with it. After your 3rd or fourth nail, you’ll find your pace. I didn’t need any other tools, other than what came with it. Does a good job poking holes in the grass and dirt. Once your done with it, it’ll be a nice anti-zombie medieval weapon.

I had this assembled by a competent person. He had trouble with the provided nut driver. During assembly, it stripped and fortunately he had a 8 mm deep well socket which finished the job. He mentioned it was easy to get scratched by the nails. The aerator works great once it's all together and hopefully will last a long time. The company provides extra nails if some get damaged during aeration so be sure to keep your packaging.

Assembly of this product was exhausting. The nails were a pain to get on and were extremely dangerous. If you aren't prepared for putting on 50 nails that are sharp I wouldn't recommend getting this product. Another issue I found was the clips that are used to keep the handle attached to the roller can easily be lost/be bent and not work. We lost one and had to get another clip as the product wouldn't work without it. Outside of these issues the product did what we needed it to and aerated the yard in a quick and efficient manner.Assembly 3/10Aerating the yard: 8/10.

The handle was flimsy when put together. The stakes were ok but the overall drum doesn’t have enough weight to push the spikes in.

First off, the assembly is fine and easy, it’s not horrendous like other reviews have stated. Very simple and straight forward, took about 20 minutes. Secondly, it works amazing if you use it properly, which means add some weight in the roller as these types of tools work with weight. I suggest either watering your yard or waiting until after it rains to use this as the ground will be moist and this will work significantly better and easier. Using it on dry hard soil is the wrong way to use these manual aerators. And thirdly, no it’s not meant to be easy peasy, you’re going to put a little work in, but that’s the reality of a manual tool like this. And lastly, yes the spikes are sharp so obviously it can hurt you, handle and store it with care and you’ll be fine.

Comes unassembled and it's a pain in the ass to fit and bolt dozens of nails into the tube. The tolerance fittings between the nails and bolts is horrible. Very difficult to thread once you're able to force the nails through the predrilled holes in the tube. The 3mm Allen wrench provided was worthless. Had to tape the "t" section together and cover the ends because they were so sharp they were cutting into my hands. Did not wear gloves, as recommended, because then I couldn't feel for the hole. The handle is a joke. Single push handle that should be a full blown "T" shaped handle in order to push the unit over the grass. With a full sand bag (sand not included) the weight of the unit it just to heavy to push with the pole that's not more than a metal broom stick. Plus after finally getting it assembled I took it off my work bench, sat it on the floor, turned to put my tools away, and a row of 3" nails found their way through my boot into the top of my foot. My fault, but still no advanced warning or safety tips on storing the unit properly. I have it covered now with the box it came in. Do not recommend and would not buy again.

I bought this because my lawn has gotten very compact and the back is a patchy mess. I have tried 4 seasons to rent a motorized aerator, but the landscapers always beat me to it (and break them!) So bought this for the price of a 1/2 day rental.Down side: It took ~1 hour to assemble. Stripped the Allen key by the second to last row from screwing so many times in.Upside: I just finished doing my entire .45 acre lawn in 1:20 hours, (after a rain storm) including going over some sections extra times. My backyard is full of submerged rocks, which the tines survived. With a little pressure and 4 pounds of sand, tines seemed to sink in all the way.Other: It takes some effort, a “farmers” workout. Makes plenty of holes, which would be V shaped if seen from a cross section. Will have to see if 2 inch deep holes are good enough.

I didn't even know these existed until I saw a landscaper using one. This was the most expensive one but reviews seemed better than the couple of other options out there. It took a few min to assemble but was not hard at all. It comes with a canvas bag to fill with sand for weight... I used stones and it works perfect! I thought I would need to add more weight to it but it works amazing the way it is! It feels very durable and solid. So much easier for small patch areas or along fence lines vs. attaching the hitch to my mower and towing my huge one around for smaller or tight areas. I'm already seeing germination from the seeds I planted. Would recommend for sure!!
