good piece for building an electromagnet

I was using it for a project on my motorcycle. It worked good. Just can’t use it to hold something for a long period of time or it will get hot. There may be a solution to this but I’m not sure how to resolve the issue.

The magnet is a small but strong little magnet. I bought it to make a simple automation project that will move a metallic object between several spots. I tested it with a simple nodeMCU board and other components. It performed well and held the flat plates tight. Great little electro-magnet.

This electromagnet seems to have pretty good performance, and looks quite waterproof, with the housing being filled with some sort of black epoxy and the wires coming out through a rubber grommet fitting. It's got a threaded hole on the top surface for affixing an eye bolt or other structure of your choosing.Draws about 0.75A at 12V. I didn't test the lifting-capacity claims fully, but be aware that you'll need a pretty thick piece of metal to reach the full rating. With very thin metal, there just isn't enough penetration of the magnetic field, and the lift will be dramatically lower.

This magnet is everything it is described to be. It is being incorporated into a magnetic scrap picker attachment for my forklift. I am still experimenting with the best way to mount to a fixture. Trials so far have been impressive, the magnet is able to lift it's rated weight and drops the load when power is cut off. Not a bad price for an item like this, and seems made to last. I recommend it's purchase and use.

The electromagnet has many industrial uses. As long as it's energized, it will tenaciously hold something open or closed as needed. Turn the power off, and it's has no magnetic field. I got this as a DIY use. I connect it to a 24 volt DC transformer to energize it. I then drag screwdrivers in one direction across it to magnetize them. It will make an unmagnetic screwdriver magnetic. It will revitalize a screwdriver that has lost its magnetism. This is what I use it for. Disclosure: I can't recommend you use it for that unless you consider all safety concerns.

I used this to make a rose prop for our production of Beauty and the Beast. The electromagnet holds the rose petal on until it's time for it to drop and then the rose petal drops on cue. Shipped very quickly and was packaged smartly and it was exactly what I needed.
