With proper care, your lotus seeds will grow into a healthy aquatic bonsai plant that blooms each year. Our seeds are carefully selected for their high germination rate and quality. Follow the steps below to grow your own lotus flowers at home:
How to Grow Lotus Flower:
Scrape the seed with a file - revealing the cream-colored core. Do not file any of the core away or else your lotus will not grow.
Place your seeds in warm water between 75 and 80°F (24 and 27°C). After a day of soaking, the seeds will sink to the bottom and swell to nearly twice their original size. Seeds that float are almost always infertile.
Fill a 3 to 5 US gal (11 to 19 L) container with 6 in (15 cm) of deep soil. This size typically provides enough room for a young lotus to grow. Make sure the container you choose does not have any drainage holes.
Remove seedlings from water once they are 6 inches (15 cm) long. Wait until the sprouts are at least 4 to 5 days old before transferring them to the potting container.
Press the sprouted seeds into the soil about 4 inches (10 cm) apart. You don't have to bury the seeds in the soil. Set them just on top, then brush a light layer of soil over them to secure them.
Lower the pot into your pond. Lotus are aquatic plants, so the soil should always have at least 2 to 4 inches (5.1 to 10.2 cm) of water above it.

I am not sure if I should add clay for the roots or a few beta fish. For nutrients to help sustain lilies growth.

I tried some in a bowl. Didn't work. I followed the instructions and put them in deep water. All I got for those were sprouts as well. I decided to try the last of the seeds in my fish tank and all I got yet again are these long shoots with leaves that die before opening.

This only comes with seeds. I may have misinterpreted but it said it came with the bowl.

Only 7 of the seeds sprouted. The ones that did sprout don’t look well at all. I emailed the seller but heard nothing back. I am terribly disappointed.

Already have four planted, sprouted quickly in fresh water change daily and a filtered light but sunny, warm window. They are now planted in my water garden. Going to start the other half of the pods in an inside bowl. Very satisfied, always am from this store.
