About this item

  • Cardinal Climber is a popular vine that grows to a mature length of 10 to 15 feet long. The vines will wrap around a fence or trellis in a matter of a few short weeks, producing beautiful & stunning, red, trumpet shaped blooms.
  • The plants will bloom profusely through the summer months, up until fall and are very attractive to hummingbirds in particular. They are also known to attract an array of other beneficial insects to the garden as well, such as butterflies, ladybugs & bumblebees.
  • Cardinal Climber is categorized as an annual flowering vine. Meaning that they will grow quickly from seed, bloom profusely, and later die with the first killing frost.

Seed propagation: use seedling trays for sowing. The seeding amount per square meter is about 100g, and the fine soil is about 1.5cm after sowing. It should not be too thin, otherwise it will be easy to unearth with the seed coat. Control the ground temperature at 20-25°C, sow dry seeds for 4 days to emerge. The seedlings of Chinensis are easy to emerge, but they are often not neat, so the seedlings should be carefully selected so that the seedlings are neat. Chinensis seedlings are very afraid of drought. When the drought is severe, they will die. It is difficult to recover even if they are watered. Special attention should be paid to this when raising seedlings. Because it is a taproot plant, it is best to use a plastic seedling pot with a diameter of 8 cm to grow seedlings, and only transplant the seedlings once, and plant 1 seedling in each container. 72-hole plug trays can also be used to cultivate seedlings, and attention should be paid to water supply during seedling cultivation. The soil moisture is moderately controlled in the middle and late stages of nursery. Seedlings should always be fully exposed to light. If the seedlings are large and the vines are entangled, they should be separated as soon as possible, and the seedling bowl should be moved a certain distance if necessary.

I had to leave this review and spent TIME finding any photo I could of the end result of planting these seeds because they were IMPRESSIVE. They grew up our swing set spot and bloomed for a little over 2 months. These vines were HUGE. Worth ever penny.

I purchased these climber vines with big hopes of beautiful trellis but I planted with excellent soil followed panting instructions but they are so leggy and falling over no strength in the vine even after using a organic feed following the directions. Both red and multi.Disappointing

There was not 100 seeds in my package. I don’t think there was even 50. So far, less than 10 seeds have sprouted.

Perfect for the hummingbirds and it has a lot of flowers and makes seeds for the next year

I have bought this same product in the past several years, and the seeds have taken off and the plants were tremendous. I'd have to stay on them to keep them from overtaking the other gardens. This year, the seeds are not doing anything but barely breaking through the ground. I keep up with feeding them yet they still have not taken off. Highly discouraged!
