It looked good on the internet so took a chance it was what I wanted.I’ve been using tie down straps to secure my trash cans lids to stop Bears, and other wild critters from digging in my trash and leaving a mess all by over my deck or street. The straps are perfect, heavyweight elastic with curved iron hooks on both ends, works like a charm!

I am writing this after the first night of adding the strap to our trash can. It's a simple concept that requires no installation and still allows for quick access to your trash can by you, a human.The raccoons that had many dinner parties at our expense leaving remnants all over the yard visited twice last night only to realize they can't get the trash can lid open anymore. They were mad, we are happy. Buy it.

Animals get into our trash cans at night. This strap fits perfectly and has heavy 2 heavy 'hooks' (more like a claw) at each end. The strap is adjustable (length-wise) but measure your trash bin before ordering. I like this because it is quick to remove and replace (I have a dog so don't want to spend time several times a day getting into and out of the trash can.) Highly recommended. PS A bear or other creature that can tip over the entire trash barrel might defeat this, not sure but if that is an issue for you might need a fully enclosed hook style ends.UPDATE after 3 months of daily use, including month+ in freezing weather so your mileage may vary: elastic/stretch aspect of the strap has totally failed. So it no longer stretches at all. Will update if I am able to get replacement from seller. Otherwise it is a great product! Many of my neighbors bought them after seeing mine!

The Gadgetzan strap does a great job of holding things down. I have used it in an alternate application where I need something to hold my potted blueberry plants down to keep the wind from knocking them over. I placed the strap under a 16"x16" stone paver and ran the hooks onto the plastic pot, creating a heavy base. The strap has plenty of adjustment, and was able to be extended to fit snugly. I live in Central Florida, and when we get a windy storm, my plants typically get knocked over. We recently had hurricane Milton come right over us, and it gave the strap a test. It held the blueberry pot in place and the plant didn't fall down, impressive. This strap should have no problem performing its intended function of keeping the garbage can lid down.The strap is heavy duty, and the hooks are plastic coated metal which is solid and does not give. The wide elastic can give a lot of holding force, which can be adjusted by changing the length. If you need to keep you trash can lid down, I can attest to its strength and holding force.

The material and especially the hooks feel durable. Easy to snap on and serves its purpose. Best part is its adjustable, so if you have someone who is elderly that cant pull quite as hard, just adjust it. Not hard to find that happy medium that holds the lid closed without requiring a lot of force to install it.May be just a strap with hooks, but its a very well thought out one. I like it!!!

I've been dealing with small animals accessing our trash cans for years, often ripping the bags inside and sometimes pulling trash out and spilling it around the surrounding area. I've used simple solutions in the past (putting a heavy rock or spare paver on top of the can to weight the lid down, etc) - but often failed to replace the weight, and didn't love how it was denting in the lid.In 20 seconds, this product solved that problem. By simply hooking this strap from the handle to the lifting bar, it secures the lid without any hassle - and is easily removed (by a person, but not an animal) without any effort.I love the simplicity of the design - no setup, no parts to break, etc - instant to install, and instant to remove if needed. The strap is thick and heavy duty - stretchable but strong. The hooks are generously sized - they're extremely heavy duty, and fit easily around any portion of the trash can you might want to hook them to. They also have with a thick rubberized coating that prevents scratching and similar.I am curious to see how the strap holds up through the winter if it gets wet, freezes, etc - if it'll retain its strength or snap. So far, it's a perfect solution!
