This is a basic copy of an old standard-style bag spreader. Assembly was a bit tricky, but we figured it out. The directions do not tell you how to assemble. The spinner is a bit loose and only held in with a cotter pin, and we have never seen anyone expect you to put the shield on yourself, but we got it once we used a cordless drill and a longer bit. These spreaders are handy for planting tiny, delicate seeds and allow for precise custom spreading. Our deer will be happy when we plant our spring food plots this year.

This is a handy broadcast spreader to have. I have a 80lb push broadcast spreader that I use for most of my applications but there are areas where I can't get into and also areas where I have to be careful like around my garden beds. This gives me a lot more control for those areas. This is also a lot more convenient for seeding/fertilizing smaller areas.The quality is good for the most part. The bag is a thick synthetic material which should hold up well over time. Where this falls short is the gearcase mechanism and impeller. The gears feel rough and you can hear the plastic on plastic rubbing each other. It's more than likely sufficient for a light duty application like this but it's just very noisy. The impeller doesn't sit on the shaft square so it wobbles considerably. It doesn't affect the function much at all but it's something that bugs me.Overall, this is a great value. Despite some of the minor quality issues, I would buy this again. I like this over the Scott's Wizz broadcast spready simply for the fact that it can hold much more material.

I do not have any seed yet, However, the weight and feel of this is very balanced and nicely proportioned for spreading. I have a walk behind... but most of the time I end up dragging it behind me... and after tilling I end up not being able to roll it nicely.This is a great alterative... If you have to walk, you may as well walk and distribute... it is much easier than the hand spreader. Great idea and good design.

Really like this handy tool. It was easy to set up and get ready for use. It can hold a ton of seed or fertilizer and you can adjust the amount easily to distribute as much or as little as you like. With the large bag, it can hold a lot of materials so I don't have to keep refilling it as often.Everything seems to work smoothly. Will report back if there are any issues at all with using it for seed or for fertilizer. (It is expressly for seed, but the documentation shows that it can be used for other materials, like fertilizer.) The cloth bag and inner lining make it easy to reuse with a simple rinse.
