Arrived as described. Took about 20 minutes to assemble. Instructions and process extremely simple. Easy to operate. Handles a 40lb. bag of fertilizer with ease. I normally don’t like plastic but this is heavy duty and plastic in this application leads to long lasting product. Fertilizer cause metal to rust. That should not be a problem with this spreader. Parts that have contact with the product is heavy duty plastic and other parts are metal. Strongly recommend and will repurchase when necessary. Great value….

After years of using a Scott’s spreader, I decided it was time for an upgrade, and after plenty of research, I settled on the Earthway Broadcast Spreader. Assembly was easier than expected, especially with the help of a YouTube video, and the quality of the product is outstanding. This spreader is a massive step up from the cheaper options you find at big box stores. The consistency and evenness of the spread are remarkable—no more streaks in my lawn! The tires are another fantastic feature, as they make it easy to traverse my entire yard, even over uneven terrain. This spreader has truly elevated my yard care routine, delivering excellent results every time. It’s a great buy and worth every penny!

Assembly is a pain but there are couple very good youtube videos that really helped. The problem i have is the spreader settings . I like to make a couple passes in a cross pattern at HALF RATE.So to spread in even distribution and not miss or over spread in some areas. The lower spreader settings spread NOTHING.The hopper hole is slightly open but nothing comes out.My guess is the cotter pin agitator is a engineering/ design flaw..So i had to scrap the half rate idea and make full rate single passes. My Scotts classic drop spreader make take longer but i much more confidence in the accuracy. If i had done it all over again i would have just upgraded to a very good drop spreader like a lesco for about 600 bucks and never have to worry about anything and saving time also.

Missing parts was a problem, so I ordered a different spreader. Glad I did. There was no comparison in quality. This spreader is not heavy duty or even sturdy in any way. If you want very light and small, you might like it. I prefer something well made and sturdy. I did not like this spreader, and sent it back. It was not worth the price, when you can pay the same and get something much better.

This spreader is better than I hoped. The air filled tires make for a very smooth lawn application. The spread pattern of material is much more consistent than my last spreader. The throw pattern of material is larger as well. It's very easy to clean. I couldn't be happier with its performance and my yard shows it. No springs to malfunction or fertilizer doors not closing all the way. This operates with solid closing rods to the door. It's closed when it's closed. It has a very accurate application regulator for settings. In sum, it's professional grade equipment for residential use at a fair price. In reviews there were sone complaints in assembly, I found it relatively easy to assemble, just take your time and use common senses. It took me 30 minutes to assemble.

Edit: From an engineer to you, I would avoid purchasing this product. Manufacturer accepts no accountability on product quality. Original: I am super disappointed at the quality of the components. The assembly is annoying. You'll need to calibrate the spread rate lever. You'll need to do some math to figure out the spread rate number. At first use it operates smooth and quiet. It took only a few passes for the plastic wheel bearings to get full of fertilizer dust and start making a grinding noise. Super annoying because returns are not feasible. Am I supposed to wash it, disassemble and box it up? Like come on. This is what you get for 200 dollars? It is so irritating because I know earthway tests this product and are fully aware of these issues. They are so obvious. It is absolutely going to require maintenance and modification and that is an unfinished product.

First, I think that is way overpriced. But looks like no spreaders are priced as they should nowadays. That being said, it’s the right size with the right performance type of spreader if you have a small lawn, and I’m pretty sure it will last good amount of years. For the price I would expect a more detailed assembly manual, and a better packaging. Throw a couple photocopied / stapled sheets with not a lot of images or details is absurd at this price point.

Great high quality broadcast spreader but the enclosed printed assembly instructions are horrible and illegible. The YouTube assembly instructions are excellent.

I was looking for a spreader to replace a similar one that rusted out after many years of use. I like the features of the Earthway 40 lb spreader, and so far it's working well. The spreader is well built and I expect it will last for quite a long time. My reason for 4 stars (rather than 5) is due to the assembly process. I read in previous reviews that the assembly instructions could be difficult to follow. Fortunately, Earthway has an online video showing the complete assembly process and I would recommend anyone buying this product to refer to that video. Nevertheless, the tolerances are very tight and it can be somewhat frustrating and time consuming to complete a couple of the steps. The young lady in the video had obviously dealt with the same issue in the past, but I'm guessing the video was not her first rodeo so she benefitted from prior practice. She does, however, let you know when a certain stage could be difficult, and not to worry. I started the assembly working on the floor but soon moved to a table where I found the process to be easier. The assembly video runs about 15 minutes, but I recommend allowing much more time. One feature that wasn't mentioned in the video was the SideSpread-Control. That's why there's only one hole open once assembly has been completed. There's a lever under the right side of the hopper that can be used to open the other 2 holes. It's described in the written assembly instructions. Anyway, now that I've done it once, I'm an expert at assembling this spreader :).
