I need to pick up the many leaves on my lawn during Fall. I bought an Ohio Steel lawn sweeper for that task but my Ferris mower doesn’t have a tow hitch. This one looked like it would work..The overall quality out of the box looked good and the red paint almost matches the Ferris red. It's not powder-coated, just wet painted. So, it will eventually scratch and rust..It’s very fiddly to attach to the mower as you have two loose plates, not much space behind the mower cross bars, and four loose bolts, nuts and washers. I first applied some painter’s tape to the cross bar and the hitch to mark the center of each. I loosely attached the fasteners to hold the parts in position, at the height I needed for my lawn sweeper. In my case, the plate needs to be up at the middle of the mower cross bars, about 13 inches high. The Nyloc nuts require a wrench to lightly tighten them to be able to set and hold the final positioning, achieved with the gentle tap of a rubber mallet. Watch out for scratches on the paint of the mower!.The first observation is that the coach bolts are too short. When tightening a nut, there should be 2 to 3 bolt threads protruding through the nut. There’s a bracing plate attached to the flat plate, which bears against the bent tow hitch plate to minimize the bending when the coach bolts are tightened. That is arguably slightly too short also, but probably for the short bolt length. It doesn’t touch the other plate until the plates are visibly bent. This allows the bolt to protrude through the nut by about 1 thread. Obviously, you need to have some clamping to the mower cross bars. However, as an engineer, I’d have reduced the amount of clamping, deepened the clamping brace for better support, and lengthened the bolts by ¼ inch. I’d also have not bent the plate to 90 degrees but less degrees to allow for the inevitable angling of that plate when tightened in position. You can see from the photo how it has visibly bent down. The hitch also protrudes quite a long way out the back of the mower. Watch out when reversing into a tree or wall. It will bend! 1 Star lost for the poor design. ☹.I tried it out on my lawn sweeper and it works as intended. The max tow load on my ISX800 is 200 lbs. The hitch is certainly strong enough for that, but being so long, it will bend with a large down or upward force. Not an issue for my lawn sweeper but I’d NOT use it for a trailer! The only problem is that the Ferris exhaust heats up that area and removing the hitch pin at the end of a job requires gloves! It might be cooler if the hitch plate were inverted and lower down, though not by much. Not a good place to use low temperature nylon insert nuts. All-metal stiff nuts would be better for longevity..At $26, this is a reasonable price considering all the parts. It does the job and if you aren’t too bothered with how it looks after installation, you’ll be fine with it. I’m just an OCD engineer!

Items is as described, I put the nuts on the outside otherwise would have been too close to the exhaust.

Used once for a small lawn roller with a ball hitch. The metal bent and twisted. Had a metal shop straighten and weld on some additional supports. It would have been cheaper to have a stronger custom build
