My original window insert had to be taped to avoid sliding. This one has the butterfly screws that keep it in place wonderfully! I bought another one for our second AC (even though we didn't need to replace it yet) just for that reason. No more tape!

I bought a vent kit from a different vendor/company last year. This portable a/c vent kit is much sturdier and is of better quality. It was easy to put together, without instructions and adapts easily to most wondow sizes. If you have smaller windows, one of the panels might need to be cut. The panels are fairly narrow, and the color matches most windows.The only thing I dislike about this kit is the insulation tape that comes with it. It's too thick. When the panels are attached together, it leaves a small gap less than half the size of the thickness of the tape. So, if you insulate around all the panels, there will still be a gap. I found it difficult to plug up the gaps and get it even around all the edges.Suggestions for all users: 1) Buy a roll of thinner insulation tape to seal around the panels. 2) Buy a roll of aluminum foil reflective insulation to cover the panels and to wrap around your vent hose (use zip ties to secure). A lot of heat escapes through the vent hose (and through the window). If you insulate, you'll get better cooling. 3) Buy a roll of foil HVAC tape to seal everything up. This tape can withstand high temps. 4) Buy some sliding window locks to prevent people from breaking in through the window.Overall, this portable a/c vent kit is sturdier than some other brands, and works well with some tweaking.

I needed a window vent for a stand alone a/c. The original platic setup on my Haier was broken, and my repair looked unacceptable for my rental property. I bought this one, and its hookup to the duct hose was simple and effective. One nit is that the pre drilled holes weren’t in a position to be useful as sash anchor points. I drilled my own holes. Overall, it was inexpensive, looked nice, and it worked as advertised.

Sometimes after market products are significantly better than the OEM version and this is one of those times. I bought a Black and Decker portable A/C unit and while the unit is working beautifully, the window kit was a nightmare to install. You literally need a hand saw to adjust the length to fit the window (per the manufacturer instructions) and after that it's going to be a nightmare to get it out of the window come fall.I was looking for a 2nd window kit, to be able to use the A/C unit in a different space in my home, when I found this beauty. It adjusts like a dream and all be extremely simple to remove and then to reinstall when the seasons change.Not all brands are created equal but I'm truly loving this product!

I bought this product to use with a GE portable AC unit....Cons: Not exactly compatible with 5.9Inch attachments.....BUT.... it had the same width of the window vent. I traced the length and used a jigsaw to cut out the rest to fit. I had to attache it with screws but besides that, it now fit.Pros: Sturdy! Really liked the extension format of wing nuts. That was a little clunky but got it to fit right and is solid. Fits very nicely in my vertical window.I added think insulation piping and clear insulation tape all around and this works very, very well. I would give it 3.5/5 stars but I can't seem to get the 1/2 star to work. For a 5 star rating, I would suggest two different vent opening options to make it more universal and supply better insulation foam as what I received was inadequate. All in all though, it was well worth the price and the little effort I had to modify it.
