Shipped very fast and somehow came across the country faster than something shipped from the next state away. Great price, seems like a decent lower priced option. Thin sheet metal, workmanship with screws etc. arrived in a foam box inside a cardboard box. The issue is any outside pressure transmits directly to the fragile filter and sheet metal box. A single hole in the cardboard from a drop, dented the filter and damaged the pleats on the face of it. Confirmed with a lighter test. Two of four corner brackets to hold the filter in place had missing rivets and were bent. Two of the 6 toggle latches were damaged and weren't usable. AMAZON told me the only recourse was for a full refund and return. The latches/brackets are simple , the filter needed replace though. After I returned it the seller messaged about sending another filter. Appreciated it but Amazon already has the unit for 9 days now and am awaiting the refund.

Using my filter gives me a sense of Secured, like there are less contaminants in my space. I have had less contaminants. But, at the same time the strong chemical smell makes me wonder..

I waited to make a review. I recived mine fast property packed.its not let me down and still going strong.after 2 yrs. Definitely worth it.and no contamination. Because of the hood .

Most of the negative reviews on this product seem to be about it being damaged in transit. I think the company has addressed that issue, since mine showed up almost bomb proof. The packaging was very sturdy with almost no chance of damage unless the guys in shipping were using it like the monkeys in that commercial for samsonite luggage. As far as the operation, it wasn't loud, and had good air flow. It is heavy, so having a permanent place is a good idea and the clasps could be better designed so it sits flat, but those are just nit picking. All and all, this seems like it will be a good addition to my mushroom farm.

The filter arrived very quickly. I ordered it on Saturday afternoon and had it Tuesday morning. The filter unit was in perfect condition, probably due to all the foam padding that was around it in the box. The filter clasps do make it tilt when placed on a flat surface, but a couple of pieces of foam from the box made it level and stable, so I have no complaints. I've used it for a month now when makeing liquid culture jars, grain spawn, agar slants, and fruiting blocks. So far NO contamination problems, so I'd say the unit works as advertized.

At first I was going to leave a one star review because both the original and replacement units arrived with damaged filters, which is the most crucial part of this FFU, but the seller ultimately made it right.There is a good chance you may, or may not receive a factory second, as I did, but a friend of mine received one with a perfect filter, and one minor imperfection on the filter attachment hooks, which had no impact on operation.The replacement filters are expensive, but should last at lest a year. I would suggest buying a 15" x 15" pre-filter to add to the back of the unit.Overall, it's a budget friendly FFU that works well for the amateur mycology hobbyist, and I am not unhappy with it's performance, or at least won't be after I receive an undamaged filter.UPDATE: The seller went above and beyond to address my issues, and the replacement filter arrived in perfect condition. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it.
