ive wired an on off switch onto it so now its great....can turn it off when not needed. otherwise it on...and will sound loudly when those two magnet sensors part!! they are probably not allowed to have off switches so the product is very good quality....the rubber gasket was deformed and shrunken a bit.....so care must be taken to get it over the battery compartment before screwing down the cover with a tiny phiips screwdriver....Once all done its very good.

While this alarm meets the basic requirements for city codes it isn't practical for use on doors going in and out of the house unless you can figure out how to get the other disarm button mounted outside. Otherwise it only works going out and will alarm when you go back inside. Made for a gate, not for doors or sliding glass doors as advertised.

I like it.. we installed it on the gate to the pool after our nephew made his way into the pool luckily he was noticed and removed in time. If you have small children they are fast and this alarm is LOUD!!!!!! You can probably hear it from outer space. All eyes will be on your pool when this thing goes off. Keep your baby’s safe it’s worth the 20 dollars and the little bit of inconvenience shutting it off.

This is a great value. Must have for pool owners, even if you don't have small children in the house. We frequently have grandkids visit. You an disable the alarm, but enable when children are around. Very loud alarm if door is open, which can be heard throughout the house and yard. Highly recommend this safety device!

Took a couple of days to pick up 9V battery, however as soon as I installed battery to test unit alarm sounds. No response from either button on unit. Removed battery , of course it stops.Returned it today and suggested they send me another unit. Not sure if I will get replacement, will look around for similar product. If it were not defective, I think it would have been a sufficient deterrent to un-authorized entry to my back yard gate.

Got these for enclosed entry points to our pool area. They were easy to install and definitely work! Loud! Designed to do what it’s supposed to. We only needed 4 but bought 6 just in case some arrived in non working condition as other reviewers stated. Happy to report that all 6 worked. And that these are UL2017 compliant if that’s what you need.However:-They are a bit on the bulky side and cheap looking.-they come with pieces of doble sided 3m stickers but you will need a bit more reinforcement as to 2 of ours fell off only after a day! One fell off in the middle of the night causing the magnet separation so the alarm went off scaring everyone. The only way to stop it was to pull the battery from the back which brings me to my next point:-there’s no bypass (that’s the point) so every time you enter in or out of the door you have to press a button. EVERYTIME. As another reviewer stated, try doing that numerous times a day while barbecuing, carrying things in your hands etc.So unfortunately this wasn’t for us. This may suite your needs specially if you need something UL2017 compliant or have very small children running around. For us, we will be looking for something sleeker that can act as an alarm but has a bypass and can be controlled by us thru a remote app.

Had to return the product. If you have layered molding around your door it won’t work. The magnet is too big for the molding so ends up stuck to the sensor or not lined up and constantly going off. Easy to install and would work if you don’t have detailed molding.

Terrible solution. These alarms are big, bulky, have long wires, and so loud they make your ears ring if you are close when they go off. I had to purchase these alarms to pass our pool inspection, but will be removing them once inspection is over. Thankfully, our children are older, so this won't be an issue. We couldn't use the hardware that came with the alarms because every door and window has different measurements, so the sensors wouldn't fit on the lip of the doors or windows in our home. We had to go to the hardware store and purchase 3M heavy duty double sided tape to make it work. Not something you'd want to use permanently if you wanted to use these alarms long term. Another thing I dislike is you will NEVER be able to open your doors or windows on a cool day. You have 7 seconds once you hit the bypass button before this God screeching alarm goes off. And forget going out your sliding glass door. You will always set the alarm off when walking back inside unless you have someone on the other side of the door to hit the bypass button. My suggestion if you have young children, and are looking for a long term solution is to bite the bullet and invest in a baby pool gate. They are expensive, but worth it for the ultimate safety of your child. Of course nothing beats adults supervision. These alarms might be okay if you're a grandparent and the grandkids come to visit once in a blue moon. Just take out the battery when the grandkids aren't there. Of course, then you'll need to remember to replace it before they come over. Not an ideal situation, but it would work. I think these alarms would be extremely frustrating to the average family with younger kids that run in and out on a regular basis. Eventually, I can see a parent getting frustrated at the constant ear shattering alarm going off, and they remove the battery. This is when tragedy would strike. I wouldn't recommend these alarms for anything more than passing your pool inspections.
