XtremepowerUS aboveground sand filter is a filtration system for swimming pools that sits above the ground. It has a tank filled with special sand. Pool water enters the tank, and the sand filters out impurities. Clean water exits the tank. Periodically, the system is reversed to flush out trapped debris. This type of filter is easy to install and maintain, making it a common choice for home pools.

Product works as expected. This was a great upgrade to our 12x 20 above ground pool. has plenty of suction all season long. I initially tried the filter balls, which worked well for a little while and the suction was very good. Changed over to sand and the pool water stayed clean all season, much better than the filter balls did. Very easy to work and the timer setting was very helpful. The noise level was very nice. Can hardly hear it from the other side of the pool and on the side of the pool that it sits on, you can have a conversation without having to worry about speaking louder to hear the other person. I definitely would recommend anyone that has the standard little pool pump and filter that comes with their pool, to upgrade to one of these.

Everything worked great when I first hooked it up in mid July 2023 to replace my old system that the pump failed. Opened the pool up this year with new sand and cleaned everything and followed the instructions like last year and have been fighting a cloudy condition since opening tried everything I could with chemicals but no luck all levels spot on. Decided on buying a new cartridge filter and pump combo and guess what? SAND is all through my pool making it cloudy will NEVER buy a sand filter system again lesson learned here!

Was perfectly pleased the first month. When I checked the gauge to see if it needed a backwash, I noticed the gauge was full of condensation and was not working. It has never worked to my knowledge. When I set it to backwash, I cannot see any waste come out. No bugs, dirty water, debris or anything dirty. Also, the hose that allows for backwash suddenly began to leak at a steady rate into my yard, then began flowing steadily and flooding my yard. Have since hung it from side of pool to drip/flow back into my pool. Could not figure out how to remedy that problem. Additionally, it does not come with step by step assembly instructions or troubleshooting suggestions that I am experiencing. Overall, it is a stronger pump/filter than my pool came with. However, I would not purchase this particular product again.

Okay so it took me a minute to get everything set up and done but now I have found everything is working awesome! This company is totally on the up and up, I ended up breaking the clamp on the sand filter I told them and they just sent me a new one and when I finally got back from a trip I finished up the rest, the pump wasn't working, so I let them know, told them what was happening and they sent me a new pump, with a snap of a finger. Unbelievable great customer service! It is a strong pump it does well with what I'm doing only 300 gallons, probably would do a much bigger pool no problem. I would definitely say if you're trying to choose which sand filter and pumpto buy, buy from them, granted I haven't had others so being the first experience I was very happy with this company.

Just like everything else you own, if you don’t maintain it it’ll break down on you. This is my third season using this pump filter combo with an Intex salt water chlorinator. Overall no complaints other than what I consider normal maintenance. A couple things I had to fix are replacement of the glass fuse a few times, and replaced the gfi plug both sources from my big box hardware store, and the sand filter pressure gauge. Every winter I drain the pool below the skimmer, unhook the hoses, drain the pump from the screw on the back, spray the impeller with wd-40 through the hole under the skimmer basket and store it in my garage. When hooking it up I set up everything without hooking up the hoses and plug it in and run fresh water through it and run the pump a few seconds to make sure it turns properly.

The standard 1/4hp that came with my Intex and the small sand filter (like 10 inches) just wasn't getting the job done. Hurricane Ian decimated my clean pool, filling it with dirt, leaves, and sand from all over Florida. I quickly scooped out leaves and vacuumed debris, and the next day it turned green. For over 2 weeks, 10lb of shock over a dozen vacuuming cycles, all chemicals balanced, and it still was green on the walls and bottom. Bought this and the GLASS MEDIA instead of sand, vacuumed, and within 24 hours I could see the bottom and the next day was crystal clear. Still had to vacuum dead algae one more time off the bottom, but this pump/filter along with glass media gets the job done.***UPDATE JUNE 2023*** Lowered from 5 to 3 stars. Had this for 8 months and the hose split today, draining quite a bit of my pool while I was at work. Luckily I had a really long hose I can put in it's place till the small one arrives. Went to XtremepowerUSA's site to tell them of this defect in the hose, and got an email that they are so backed up that they would get to me when they could. When they did get back to me, they told me I could buy the hose for 30 bucks plus shipping from their webpage. I asked about the warranty and they said there is no warranty outside of the individual websites return window. Thank goodness the pump and filter still working, so I guess I will keep buying 25 dollar hoses from 3rd party suppliers because there'sno way I would buy a replacement hose from the same defective supplier as the one I already had.**UPDATE AUGUST 2023** Today the hose burst again due to poor design and flooded the pump (which now will not work). Paid over 250 bucks for something that lasted right at 10 months, and they say that there is no warranty on their product. DO NOT BUY THIS CHEAP CRAP, YOU WILL REGRET IT!
