I've been looking all over Amazon at the various Dresden templates and finally decided on this one.I haven't used it in a quilt setting yet, I just pulled a couple of fat quarters out of my stash and played with the set over the course of a weekend, just to get the hang of it. It's super easy to use, the wood piece is fabulous to get this crisp, accurate points we love to get.I do have to say that there is a film that comes on the template that is a little difficult to get off, at first I thought the template was frosted but then discovered it was a film that came off. I was able to finally get mine off just by running my fingers back and forth across one of the points to get it loose, then pulled it off.I do have one gripe, the glue that they used to secure the template onto the cardboard is ridiculously strong and thick, it took me forever to get the glue off of the template. A fair amount of alcohol soaked Q-Tips did the trick, but I'm not sure why they chose to use that glue to secure the template onto the cardboard.Overall, I love the set. It'll be great to use when I start my next quilt.

I was so happy to find this little tool at such a great price. It is simple and easy to use even for me - a beginner. The instructions enclosed were very clear. I saw what I now know is a Dresden plate on a table at my first quilter's retreat 4 months ago and I went looking for instructions to make it. When I asked around someone told me about this tool. I was able to easily duplicate the pattern in spring colors for St. Pat's day. I made two of them as table toppers - not as part of a quilt. I placed them on a green tablecloth and will use them later on a white tablecloth. Very versatile. It could easily be made as a trivet (hot pad type) using insulating fill and I am now in the process of figuring out how to make a matching teapot cozy. When that is done, I will use the directions to make the fan pattern. Maybe I found the fan pattern on you tube video, but all it is is 5 spokes of the plate and 1/4 of the circle. I will also use the pattern to make a rememberance pillow out of men's ties. The tool came with a circle template for the center as well as a wooden tool which I use for poking out the points. That tool is an added bonus as I'm sure I'll find many points to poke in the future. I am very happy with this purchase.
