Came with zero worms in the cup of dirt. Not even a single dead worm. We'll have to find a bait shop tomorrow to make this farm worthwhile. The book that comes with the kit is good. My 6 year old's review: "The whole part of the set is the worms and we didn't get any. I feel a little bit unhappy about it." Not worth the money. But a 100 count bag of composting worms instead and your kid will enjoy that more.

Cool little gift for my son. Small enough to fit on a shelf. Worms arrived alive and grass seed grew very well. Would recommend

This works ok but the worms are small and they hide so much that even with the light blocker, you don't seem them much. My students sort of enjoy it for very short periods, but I wish I had invested in more than one or gotten my own worms that are bigger.

It came with everything you need to start a worm farm. My daughter absolutely loves this and it was easy to put together. The grass seeds have already grown and the worms are alive and digging! Highly recommend for those kids who love science and enjoy worms!

I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my young daughter who is into all things worms, gardening, and composting. It estimated it would arrive December 5th, but it arrived a lot earlier. I think earlier shipping is always fine with the exception of live creatures. Being more than a month away, I was worried the worms wouldn't make it for the holidays. I contacted the seller right away to get tips on how to keep the worms alive and they were not helpful at all. I think I got a one or two sentence reply with no information. So I decided to do some research myself and I was able to keep them all alive without having to transfer them until the farm was opened on Christmas day. I kept them in the dark and a cool area of my house. I would take the cup out once a week to check on them. I'd water the soil a little every other week (just moist, not wet). I also set a couple carrot shavings, a torn up spinach leaf, and a broken egg shell on the top. The worms did really well. We transferred them as soon as she opened the farm. The farm itself was disappointing in size and much smaller than I was expecting. It's more like the size of holding your two hands side by side. We plan to transfer them from the farm to her vermicompost bin in a few weeks. She seems happy with the purchase, but overall I would not recommend this farm and would suggest creating your own with a little more research.
