This step stool is well made and (for a stool at least) attractive; attractive enough to leave out in the kitchen and not tucked away out of sight. The dark wood finished appearance is well done and consistent across the step stool and seems solid enough to endure the cleanings that it will under go over time: the wood feels well coated and smooth so there is little grain to trap dirt (and grease for mew in the kitchen).Assembly is straight-forward and the instruction sheet (a quarter-page) is in full color with photographs. A nice change from the typical black-and-white line drawings on the vast majority of instruction sheets. The step stool is provided with screws already partially coated with thread-lock paint – once assembled, I doubt, they will work loose easily or quickly. A screw drive (Philips head) is provided so nothing additional is needed. That said, there is one small issue: the Philips head is a bit smaller than optimal for tightening the screws down completely: I needed to get a slightly large size to fully tighten the screws.My only other quibble is with the finger cutout on the top surface. This is a bit small in width and the edges are not rounded over as much as I would prefer. I find it a bit of a tight fit placing my fingers partially into the opening to lift the step stool and the edges scrape the skin some as well. I realize some of this will wear off with use, but another ⅛” (3 mm) to ¼” (6 mm) of width would make for a better fit for other hands and a slight rounding-over/chamfer on the edge would eliminate even this quibble.

I wanted a stool that looks pretty and matches most decor. This exceeds my expectations. It was really easy to put together and seems very sturdy!

This is a lightweight, practical stool. It can be used while being stored, for example keep it in the kitchen but set your wastebasket on top of it or use it as a minitable for pet food containers until you need it. It doesn't fold up, but it is very sturdy and it feels solid to step on.Assembly is easy. It's obvious what to do, but clear instructions are provided anyhow. In the hardware package is a small screwdriver that is really too small for the screwheads. Why would they include this? To prevent you from overtightening the screws. I have decades of experience building and repairing things, so I used the correctly sized screwdriver. You have to tighten the screws only to the point where there's a sudden increase in resistance. Further tighteing won't fasten them any better. Normally, I would use a ring lockwasher under the head, but these screws have a coating that acheives the same purpose. When assembling this, finger-tighten all of the screws first. Then use the screwdriver in a torquing pattern to gradually tighten all of them. I used the center-out pattern and made about eight passes.This looks nice, because it is real wood. Not particle board (which is also toxic and which I refuse to have in my home) and not plastic. Wood.I'm 6 ft tall and have a 6'2" wingspan. Yet, even I need a stool. There are places I can't reach without help. These include smoke alarms (can't quite reach them), the cupboards over the refrigerator, and the top shelf of one cupboard in my kitchen because the counter is in the way. I do have guests and they might want to reach places that I have no problem reaching. This stool solves that problem for them.A particular use I had not anticipated until trying it out all over the house is it allows me to use a microfiber cloth to clean the tops of my refrigerator, wardrobe units, various wall hangings, and fireplace mantle without having my face below the dust line. It also provides enough of a boost for me to dust my walls with a microfiber cloth (instead of using a blower, which doesn't remove statically clinging dust as the microfiber cloth will).It is also a good stool for an aging dog or cat that wants to climb into your bed or that needs to reach a pet door that requires stepping up or stepping down.
