I am getting into wood turning. I wanted something I could estimate thickness of a bowl or vase. It is not perfectly accurate but will do. If this works out, I will buy a better one.

Advertised as stainless steel. Only silver painted mild steel. Tips did not match end to end by over 1/8 inch. Center nut is not self-locking so loosens with every use. This is a $3 tool. not $18

I ordered this to turn wood bowls and I returned this tool for a refund because the metal was too soft to hold its shape and allow you to measure the bowl thickness. Don’t waste your money
