While the idea is great, the wire is very flimsy and the mangnet is horrible. It bearly find the magnet in the other side 1/2 inch drywall. I was really expecting this to help with some wiring task, but it delayed me more than it helped.

The magnet isn't powerful enough to pick up through dry wall. The magnet will grab the metal piece, but the grab is so week that you really can't tell if you have it or if you lost it. And texture on the drywall and it lets go. Over all this is a fail.

I was able to get the wire pulled through the wall cavity, but the magnet was not strong enough to work on 1/2 drywall. It worked because the weight and gravity pulled the string through the wall.
