About this item

  • Exceptionally resilient and durable, our watercolor paper will not warp or cockle even when saturated with large volumes of water
  • Made on a traditional cylinder mold. This ensures the fibers are interwoven, which gives the paper far greater strength and dimensional stability
  • Internally and externally sized for optimal water absorbency, pigment dispersion and lasting colour adherence
  • Cold pressed paper has a less textured finish and produces the brightest paintings. Its increased surface area holds more color and rejects more light
  • Our professional paper is constructed with 100 Percent cotton with pure spring water. 15 sheets per pad

Classic pads are made with 100% archival grade cellulose wood pulp and natural artesian well spring water with neutral ph properties. Cold pressed paper has a less textured finish and is the most widely used paper surface. This paper often produces the brightest water colour paintings because its increased surface area holds more colour and therefore reflects more light.

It’s a do-able size, not too big, not too small. I love the grain of the paper. Painting with watercolors can be tricky, but in the end it’s the paper that makes or breaks a project. Colors dry and blend well, even using several layers to get the color you desire. And it takes permanent pen ink well too with so smears or bleeding. It’s my go-to pad of paper for my artwork.

I wanted to try the Winsor & Newton professional watercolor paper and thought this wired sketchpad would be fun! It's good 100% cotton paper and the pad lays flat, but the paintable area is only 5" x 6 5/8” so you can't remove the sheets and put them in a standard 5" x 7" frame. (See Photos.)

Nice size sketch book with excellent quality paper. Holds water very well and the “cold press” isn’t as bumpy in texture as other brands. Doesn’t seem to buckle much at all. Highly recommend. Not cheap in bigger sizes but definitely cheaper than Arches and very comparable.

I'm using these for my watercolor sketchbooks and they sure are doing well. The paper is great - so absorbent and works so well with all my watercoloring techniques. I love the fact that the spiral bound notebook is easy to page through when I'm looking back at art I created. They are compact and can go with me in my bag. The paper size is perfect. The 100% cotton paper quality is perfect. Love these. Keep making them, please!! I want to have a collection of art in these spiral bound watercolor papers! To me, these are well worth the money.

I like this paper. It seems softer than Arches and doesn't have as much tooth. I enjoy using it though.

I've tried a few watercolor pads over the last couple of years- always wanted to try something different. The one from Germany (Hahnemuhle), and the one from China (Baohong) don't compare with what I experienced with Winsor & Newton. Arches and Fabriano are fine- no doubt a favorite with many, but I am convinced that W/N cold press is by far pure quality and it made it so much easier to work on. Lifting where needed was easy along with my multi layering as I layed down my colors. And, as I look back at one recent small painting, I really think the watercolors themselves are brighter with a more vivid in appearance on the W/N paper. Impressive.DateLine: Have sold this small watercolor- 2/18/2024
