I have been buying Winsor & Newton paints and brushes for probably 40 years. They are that good. I favour the filbert shape and synthetic medium soft fibres. The work I do is sometimes small and the shape of the brush and how it handles is always going to be very important. I have no quarrels with the construction or the handling of this brush. Perfect for my needs.

I ordered a set of three 00 paint brushes. Only one single brush in the package. Annoying.

Ok, I love the Monarch product line. The hair strength is just what works best for me. It's a lot of money to shell out $60 + for just one brush, though, and I must say I am a bit disappointed when using this brush for painting. Look, I know that the brush is advertised for glazing. The brush is basically made of two thin rows of hair, with a divider hidden in the middle. Due to the scarceness/thinness (in quantity) of hair, it does not retain the kind of strength that its smaller counterparts could, when handling a large quantity of oil paint. In the absence of proper 2-inch painting brush though, this is the only available substitute and it could be better.

These are good brushes that have been the victim of poor manufacture and shipping and packaging. The brushes arrived on time, however they were in plastic bags in a large padded envelope, with no other protection. One brush popped right off the handle, the other was broken in half. Not the quality you’d expect for expensive brushes. BRUSHES NEED TO BE PACKAGED IN CARDBOARD PROTECTIVE SLEEVES! Most of the bad reviews are for damage done in packaging.

These brushes are among the best in the world in my opinion. This brush allows for soft strokes but firm hairs which is excellent for oil painting. Winsor and Newton really outdid themselves on this brush.

Was packaged loose work other items so I'm seriously surprised nothing serious happened to it.. Fantastic brush for acrylic use. Though the point is no longer sharp after several uses unfortunately

Great brushes. Semi -firm, holds acrylics or oils well. Very good springback.Amazon had the #12 for a ridiculously wonderful price and I grabbed two. Generally I buy my art supplies elsewhere, but there are times when Amazon. as the source vendor, has some deals. You have to be careful, though. Prices for art supplies on Amazon are generally not very competitive, but when they are, they are VERY good!

I am finding it hard to write a tome on these paint brushes, so here is the simple report: I like the somewhat stiff bristles, and they stand up well to my punishing method of oil-painting.

An excellent brush at any price. Buy two. The flow of öil paint with this brush is incredibly tactile, excellent with Marogér medium. Dependant your style, this a good brush for larger passes in a portrait. It may not make you a Sargent or a Leighton, yet you shall feel like one with this brush in the ability get some interesting brush strokes. Then again, one may get interesting strokes with one's fingers.
