The carbide edge of this bit broke upon my husband’s first use in poplar wood, which is very soft. He called Whiteside and told them that he was unhappy with that bit and asked what they planned to do to remedy the situation. He had to call them again to finally get a response and they asked for a photo of the bit. He emailed three photos of different angles of the broken bit and they said they didn’t get any of the photos. He resent the pictures and they acknowledged receipt. Having looked at the photos, the shop manager claimed that it was not a product failure problem, implying that my husband had misused the product. My husband is an experienced woodworker and has made furniture for our home so I think he knows what he’s doing in his shop. My husband said he would send them the bit, since it was useless to him. He also sent an email telling them that their response was inadequate. No reply yet. We have sent the bit off but no longer expect a refund.

As with all Whiteside bits, this is an excellent product. Purchased as a "hot standby" for my kitchen renovation project and ready for action.
