Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. Whiteside Machine Company.

I found it hard to find a large enough rabbet bit for what I needed. This one fit the bill. I needed to make 3/4" rabbets for some heavy-duty garage cabinets and this was exactly what I needed. The B2 bearing that comes on the bit is what you need to make the 3/4" wide rabbet to fit 3/4" or 18mm plywood. Just set the depth you want and get busy. The bit is super sharp and cuts easily. I ran about 12000-15000 rpm and it was butter.I have really enjoyed all the Whiteside bits I have gotten. Great product!!

Nothing better than a fresh bit

Works for the job but for the money a protective case or similar would be reasonable. Also, packaging this item in a simple plastic bag for shipping -- come on.

Kind of expensive but it’s nearly impossible to find a rabbet bigger than 1/2 in. I needed a 5/8 cut for bee boxes. I bought this and a set of washers/rollers. Couldn’t be happier. Cuts like a dream.

I bought this to rebate for 24mm glazing units in my oak framed conservatory. I couldn't find anything nearly big enough before and nearly did myself a mischief trying to grip a smaller bit by the tip of the shaft - not clever. The new bit seems well balanced and I am using a 1900W router which slices through the oak with ease. I am taking appx 6mm cuts to a final rebate of 40mm.Not being experianced with this kind of cut I have experimented with speeds and direction of cut, but I am getting a great clean finish. The bit has been used a fair bit now and has discoloured due to heat, but still working great. The only problem is the amount of shavings being produced, I have invested in a disposable headcover and face shield (3M) to go over my safety glasses - stops most of it going dowm my neck! I have also attached a small plastic shield on the underside of the router plate to try to deflectmost of the shavings away.
