Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. Whiteside Machine Company.

I use it for making small sliding dovetails. This bit is really great for this. Of course you need a good router table/fence but the bit cuts great and doesn’t burn.

Replaced Freud cutters for use with my Porter Cable dovetail jig. Couldn't be happier, no chatter...smooth cuts.

I was trying to make a Mircojig sled. My old router bit (cheap set here on Amazon) wouldn't cut at all into plywood or hardwood without relief cuts, and even then I had to push too hard to be safe. I bought this and WOW WOW WOW. Thousands of times better!!!It will also cut hardwood and plywood even without a relief cut being done first. I wasn't expecting that bonus. I bought one of their 1/4" straight-cut bits too as I expected it to be required to accomplish the task. I paid more for these 2 bits than the entire set of router bits I previously bought, but I have zero regrets.I feel significantly safer using this as I don't have to push hard at all. From now on, I will buy quality router bits and these are my first choice.

I like to use sliding dovetails for some jointing and historically I use a 12 mm dovetail bit for 8 mm chuck I purchased almost 30 years ago in Germany... but this particular Whiteside bit for 1/2-inch chuck was way more comfortable to handle although I do not know the exact reason but the feeling of safety and performance were much better than my previous bit.1/2-inch (or its nearest metric cousin at 12 mm) are by far my most used dovetail bit. This size looks magical fitting most real world applications, at last for me.Strongly recommended.

It's a great product that works very well. I used it to cut dovetail splines and the keys in a humidor. Very sharp and cuts clean.

These are the best bits on the market. They are made in the USA and are produced at a fair cost. Whiteside is the only drill bit maker you should purchase from.
