Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. Ran 1,200 linear ft of poplar with 2 of these bits. Not sure how long just one would last but after 600 ft the finish looked good. Also, we ran each 600 ft group through twice, one pass to rough in which the bit was buried, leaving only a 1/16 or so to finish with.

Bought this to fix a mistake when putting juice grooves in a cutting board with my smaller diameter CMT Orange bit. Had heard great things about Whiteside so I decided to try this one and with Prime shipping I had it the very next day.I've used it a couple times now and while it works, I have to use extra caution and take extremely light passes as it wants to tear out the wood and run away instead of making clean smooth cuts like my Diablo and CMT bits.Probably just a one off manufacturing flaw but I could not recommend. Mine should have come sharper from the factory.

The picture doesn't look like the 1413 bit... The 1413 Round Nose Core box bit has taller vertical sides with a 1-3/16 cutting length and 2-13/16 overall length. We use this bit in our duplicator and it works just great. I have used 3 others and none hold up as well as the Whiteside bit.
