I’m a huge fan of Whiteside products, and love adding new additions to my collection. Today I received the rabbet kit and was disappointed, just like other reviewers, that when it arrived the kit was loose inside the sealed package. I inspected the bearings and didn’t notice any issues, and the bit came covered in the typical gummy protective coating. With bearings looking good and no noticeable damage to the coating, I was shocked when I removed the coating and found multiple chips in the carbide of the bit. I have to believe it was in this condition prior to shipping, but it’s hard to tell and I’ve never had a single issue with QC on any of my other Whiteside products. I’ve requested a replacement and I’m hoping I’ll have better luck with the new kit. -1 star because this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident with this particular kit, makes me wonder if it’s being produced, or packaged by someone else, just not what I’ve come to expect from WS. Will add a star back if the new kit comes undamaged because I already know I’ll love the product.

These are quality bits, made in USA. Excellent for chamfered edges on various boards. I used mine to chamfer edges on a cutting board for my RV. Multiple sized bearings increased the number of jobs I can handle with one set.

I'm using this router bit on my Dewalt Wireless Router DCW600B. You can tell it's high quality. Probably one of the best items I've purchased from Amazon. If I need another router bit I know which brand to buy.

The router bit is encased in thick plastic so it arrived free of any chipping during shipping. Everything was perfect, great value.

I've been using Whiteside Spiral up cut routers bits for a while now and I think they're absolutely fantastic, the results you get from the cut is super clean. Therefore, I jumped at the chance to get the 1/4" Shank Rabbet set for a up coming task. Literally was super excited to receive the item and opened it straight away, everything looked good till I removed the opaque plastic cover from the bit. Initially, I thought I saw a bit of dirt on the flute and tried to remove it but couldn't and on closer inspection the flute had a small bit chipped out and when I turned it over to the other flute it had and even bigger chip than the first one!Don't blame the supplier as they wouldn't have seen this without removing the coating to check, this was clearly an QA issue back at Whiteside, their inspection process failed here. Because of this defect, will be not cut cleanly and not be balanced, potentially over time can damage my router so I immediately asked Amazon for a replacement and I have to send this one back. Lets hope the replacement is free of any defect!I've reached out to Whiteside detailing this defect (just to let them know more than everything else) at their webpage and two days later, still no reply.UPDATE:Amazon did an amazing job to send me an replace in space of few days and again my hopes were quickly dashed with the replacement Whiteside Rabbet set. The flute on both faces have bits chipped off. It is marginally better than the original one. see for yourself with 4th, 5th and 6th picture. I've resigned to fact even if I got a 3rd replacement part it will be no better.

Bit is high-quality, sharp, and cuts cleanly. Bearings are easy to change with the provided hex key. Comes in a case which is nice for keeping all the parts together. I noticed another reviewer complained about chips out of the bit, but I did not have this problem. My bit arrived in perfect condition and cut cleanly.

As a moderately well-skilled DIY'er, I am always interested in the right quality tools to do the right job. I needed a 1/4" shank rabbeting set to properly complete a two-drawer, lateral oak filing cabinet for our home office. I knew the Whiteside product would fit my ancient Sears Craftsman router and the variety of bearings would solve a myriad of uses including flush trimming. The price, through Amazon, was less than buying through any local big box, hardware, or tool store and delivery would come in time to finish the cabinet on schedule. The set cut beautifully and cleanly on the first go-round. Exchanging the bearings was easy, quick, and secure with the included allen wrench. Can't wait to begin another project and use it!
