After a few years the poor paint prep which has no primer to adhere the paint to the aluminum all peels off! Their warranty is a JOKE Lifetime covers nothing! read Limitations. If you live in Florida anywhere they won't cover due to salt air!!! Even in the middle of the state. Then I was told there is even Salt in my Irrigation! ARE YOU F...ING KIDDING ME!! Salt water would kill your grass! Irrigation comes from Aquifer deep down. Also read all other limitations. Extreme cold..Not Covered, Extreme heat...not covered Salts ,chemicals, road debris??? God forbid you put you mailbox by the road! Oops they salt your roads up north...Not covered! Then the icing on the cake coverall "NORMAL AGING DURING NORMAL USE" Ok you tell me then what DO YOU COVER???Product is MADE IN CHINA ...and OVERPRICED!It's not all negative though the product itself is well made its just crappy prep and paint. If they would address this I would've had great review , but when you spend $600 for a mailbox you'd expect better and re-write the warranty or don't offer one! It' a total BS warranty so don't say LIFETIME when you cover NOTHING!!

It is heavy. We have a PVC mailbox post and this mail box is too heavy for it.

This is our second one. The first one lasted about 10years, the hinge broke on one side, 2 different handymen couldnt fix so we bought new one. The orig base was fine, all we needed was a new box. It fit perfect on the orig base as expected. Very happy, ..classy mailbox

I like the looks of the mailbox and post. Hopefully, the finish on both will last longer than many of the reviews state. My major dislike involves the address plaques. For starters, the plaques don't come with the mailbox and post. You have to order the plaques after receiving the mailbox and post. Finding the order form for the plaques involves a diligent search as it is not enclosed with any of the paper work. It is glued on the outside of the shipping box. It takes ~ two weeks to receive the plaques after ordering. This is likely a cost saving plan as some customers will give up and not order the plaques. My biggest objection is that the plaques are glued to the mailbox with four squares of double stick tape. Contrast that with the Frontgate my neighbor bought. The Frontgate plaques are pre-drilled for studs that hold the plaques on the mailbox. Which will last longer: double stick tape or threaded studs secured with cap nuts?If I had known about the double stick tape, I would have paid a few dollars more and bought the Frontgate.

This mailbox is much bigger than appears online. So heavy, not optimal for the post I purchased.

I bought my WhiteHall cast aluminum mailbox four years ago in the color white along with their white post. I figured this mailbox would last 10 years without any maintenence as it was supposed to be high quality construction. On delivery I noticed the mailbox itself was made in China. The optional custom address lettering ordered was contructed in the U.S.A. Assembly was easy and the worst part was renting a machine to bore down a little over three feet into the ground and considered that extra work before purchasing as my property is full of rocks here in N.E. PA.After installing, I stepped back and looked back at one of the best looking mailboxes on my street. The first problem I noticed was there was very slight interference when closing the cover. Not enough to send it back. The major flaws in quality showed up after 8 months when the paint started peeling everywhere in large chunks. (except lettering) Every 6 or 12 months months in warm weather I bring out my putty knife and scrape a bit more off until the entire original finish will eventually be repainted. Under the original white finish I noticed that no alodine or zinc Chromate primer was used in preparation. Under the paint the aluminum had a powdery oxide which must be sanded off before priming. The best color match was white Rustoleum Primer which also blends in nice with the original texture so I used no finishing color. The Rustoleum primer itself has not peeled in three years and looks great! Five stars for the Rustoleum primer!! Thumbs down for WhiteHall.
