The Golden Maple wet pallets for painting miniatures were a definite hit with my son who paint various miniature figurines. The sponge is of decent quality and doesn’t cause staining of the parchment surface. This allows for the paint blend to stay pretty well hydrated without getting too runny and without causing the parchment surface to get too miscolored. We are happy with this product.

This set works well for more than just miniature figurines artists. The brushes work well for canvas artists too. The same medium is used which is acrylic and this works like magic. The brushes are sturdy and durable and help get some major details done. Big fan.

The attempt to turn this into a combo of a paint brush storage box AND a stay-wet palette is ultimately going to ruin the brushes, and the container isn't air-tight, so the paint won't stay wet between sessions anyway. If you only intend to use the brushes and the "stay-wet" palette WHILE actively painting, then discard your paint remnants at the end of each session, this will be fine. But DON'T expect to store wet paint on top of the brushes inside the container and have everything ready to use again a day or five later.

This wet palette is such a useful accessory! I like to paint miniatures, but sometimes I get interrupted and really dislike coming back to dried-out paint. This wet palette truly solves that problem. I have now had my acrylic paint on the wet palette for four days (moisten sponge, cover with included 'wet paper', add your paint, and then snap the outer lid closed when not in use), and there is no sign of the paint drying out! I love the nine paint brushes that are included = they are excellent for using with miniatures, or anywhere that you need to paint a tiny detail. I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this product.

I had gotten a wet Palette from Army painter before and loved it, but decided to give this one a try with the hopes of turning one of them into a travel set that I could take on vacation so that I don't have to pack and unpack everything. As a wet pallet, this works, and I appreciate that like the Army painter one I got, it comes with 2 hydro foams and 50 sheets. I have yet to go through one of my hydro foams, but have gone through a few of the sheets so this is a great starting amount. The brushes are a nice addition, though for the miniatures I paint most of them are too big except for very large models or terrain painting so not much of a bonus there. The biggest con and the reason why I favor paying the extra $10 for the Army painter's version is storage (even though it doesn't come with brushes like this set). There is no way to store the pallet wet with these brushes without damaging them long term, additionally it's not air tight enough that it's going to keep things wet for long, and lastly I certainly wouldn't want to travel with anything wet in this as it's going to leak out. The Army painter on the other hand while not completely air tight makes a much better seal and stores the brushes separately for their care as well, and I haven't had any wet leaks out of their container as a result.Overall it's a good product, and if you're curious about a wet pallet and want to see how it goes it's not a bad option. I personally feel that there's a better value from the other options out there for a bit more investment (especially if you already have brushes).
