I used this SATA to USB-C adapter with external power supply to create a Time Machine backup for a 2024 Mac Mini on an unused Hitachi 2TB SATA hard drive. It was plug & play. No issues.

Great item but will not power a DVD drive. Works great with SSD/HDD. Comes with a 2 AMP power supply but needs a 2.5 amp adapter for a DVD drive. Works great for my needs.

Needed somethings to just plug in real quick to test if it works and maybe get some files to and from to drive. This would be the closes thing to being hot swappable in my eyes I just plug it in and is good to go, The down side is you will need a usb extension if you computer isn't close by. speed were about 105 MB/s when transferring.

I was expecting a transfer speed of 125 to 150 MB/s in keeping with other USB connected HDDs that I have. Instead I am getting 36 MB/s when transferring larger files using the powered connector and a USB C interface. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I needed to access the files on an old 1 TB WD Blue SATA drive that had been removed from a computer. This worked perfectly and just required the supplied external power supply and a USB port on my laptop to make it work.

Apparently, Amazon shipped me a box containing prodcut that was NOT what the label stated and NOT what I wanted. Someone put a mSATA adapter in the box. Amazon refused to replace the product. I contacted WAVLINK customer service and once I was able to document my claim, they sent me the correct item within days!! Very reponsive service.BTW, The adapter works very well and I do recommend WAVLINK products and theur customer service.
