Why speed limited to 2-3G? Some USB-C versions may advertise high-speed transmission but are actually restricted by the 5G protocol, resulting in network speeds of around 2-3G. Therefore, please ensure the USB port supports at least 10Gbps transfer spee
MacBook's speeds inconsistent The adapter requires CPU operating memory, so only M2 and newer MacBooks can support it properly. Older versions of the MacBook will encounter this issue.

I hooked up the device to a USB4 (thunderbolt compatible) port on an Intel NUC running Win11 and connected it to a 10gbe port of Netgear switch. After installing the latest drivers from Realtek (filename: 'Install_USB_Win11_11016_20_09192024.zip') the computer connected to the network with 5gbe speed. IPerf network speed was 4.25Gbit/sec for about a minute before the network connection failed. The network link remained unusable until reconnecting the USB cable. For good measure I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled an older version of the driver from the Wavlink website but the problem persisted.

I have been trying to get a 10gb connection between my desktop and server, but unfortunatly I just can't find a motherboard with a 10gb nic in a itx board. This was the next best option until I can find a itx motherboard with usb 4. It did require a windows update before it was able to do full 5gb, it would only do 2.5 out of the box.

I got 4250mbps on my MacBook Pro from my 4gbps internet connection but on my PC...I couldn't get anything consistent. It would read the ethernet cable wrong or something. When hooked into the wall at 4gbps it would read link speed of 705mbps but when hooked with the same cable into a 1gbps switch it would get the full speed. I couldn't get past 350mbps hooked into the 4gbps wall port but did get 940mbps hooked into the gigabit switch that was also hooked into the same 4gbps wall port. The PC unreliability was insane with lots of connect/disconnect loops and limited speed when available at all. I upgraded everything and re-installed driver's as well to try and fix this but it didn't work. Thankfully, this purchase was for my MacBook Pro anyway and I purchased a 5gbps PCIe NIC for my PC, which I'm still waiting for. Slowly adapting to the faster 4gbps fiber...Also, my cables aren't all Cat6a like recommended and I get full speeds fine on the MacBook Pro.

I got a pair of these so that I could do video production work on my Mac mini M4 and access the raw files on my Windows PC via a private network (the two systems are connected together directly, in addition to their "actual" network connection). After getting each system configured, I am getting very good speeds (5 Gbps) between the two devices, and this was a much more economical solution than getting each device built with higher speeds.

I recently purchased this 5Gb Ethernet USB-C adapter and am beyond impressed with its performance. As someone who frequently works with large files and needs fast, reliable network speeds, this adapter has been as absolute game-changer. The " plug-and-play" functionality made the setup process incredibly smooth and hassle-free. Excellent build quality. Used 20' of cat 6e cable plugged into a USB-C 3.2 or higher port.
