Used on something it wasn't intended for. Still worked great.

Having tried just about every type of wood filler from every manufacturer i ran across this from googling and youtubing suggestions. I decided to take the plunge and try a small container at first. I stopped using the other types of fillers and switched solely to this one. It wasn't long until I had completely used it up. I am in the process of remodeling an old house. I decided to spend the bucks and get the gallon jug even though I still had some of the other types of wood fillers. The Goodfilla wood filler is just that good! It is the easiest wood filler (by far) that I have ever used. Needless to say that I will never buy any other wood filler again BUT Goodfilla's!

I used it once on a project and it smelled amazing, it smelled like cologne. I put the cap on and put the bucket away for another project. Took it out for the second project and it smelled soo terrible. I tried to use it on the second project thinking once it dries the smell will go away. The smell stayed and I had to sand the project back down and get all the filler out because the smell just wouldn’t go away. I threw the whole bucket away. Can somebody tell me why it smells so terrible and what can I do to preserve it after the first use?

I bought this to skim coat a table to fill some of the deep grain on the oak. It went on pretty good and sanding went well. Problem was when I went to put on the second coat I blew it off with my leaf blower and it literally blew half the material off. It just flaked off like it had an adhesion issue. I sanded the surface with a plam sander prior to applying this. Also, the material smelled like manure when you sanded it 🤮

I was building a countertop using red oak and wenge. I bought this to seal the open pores of the red oak. When I applied it, I just troweled it on with a plastic trowel. It goes on pretty thick, but dries quickly. I did have some pockets of dark colorant that were not well mixed into the gel. these caused streaks of black that I later sanded out. the color of the red oak mix I bought was kind of orange. the viscosity of the gel is similar to creamy peanut butter, maybe a little thinner. I found that it did not match the red oak very well, and I ended up sanding most of it off. Had I to do over again I would thin it out and use a brush instead. Cleans up easily with water. I sanded with 80 grit to level, applied gel, then sanded with 120, 150, 220, 320 grit. Finished with 4 coats of spray lacquer. sanded 320 between coats.

I order this for my husband to repair our one room that still had hardwood flooring. Small room. Worn out floors with cracks and pieces of wood missing. My husbands review of the product is “ it’s good. It worked. It dried fast and I’ve got it stained. Make sure you seal the container with tape after you’re done. Once it dries, re wetting is only going to make it chunky “Now wife review is : the smell is atrocious. The entire house stinks, days later. The dust is everywhere even though we took extra precautions. And I ended up having to order 2 of the quart tubs as the cracks were a lot worse than we thought. So $80 was kind of steep but worth it in the end as it was quick and looks good!

Love this stuff. I think the bad reviews are bc people aren't applying it correctly or under correct circumstances environment etc. even better I called the company that sold it and they were very helpful. Wanted to make sure I was doing it right so I didn't waste a big gallon bucket of it or ruin my wood floors. I'll update with a photo later but I decided to thin it down and use it on my entire wood floors. They're 1950 and sanding them really opened up the cracks between the boards. Also, I was aggressive sanding so I have lots of exposed nail heads (the ones u can't get out) I didn't want discolored holes so all in all..I decided to skim the entire floor. Plus stain will be much more consistent. I did use it on the deck to fill some older boards and smooth them out and it worked great Some bad reviews on outside but I think people aren't doing in the correct weather. You've got to get it painted or stained at the right time as wellGood stuff. I'll never use any other kind again. Can't wait to get the project finished!

I needed to refinish a Sapele' countertop. The original finish on it was polyurethane and was put on like it was a floor, flooded, so it leveled fairly well. It became gummy after 7 years though and it needed to be refinished.I usually use my 2K poly and grain fill with just the finish. I wasn't having good luck doing this and ended up striping it off. So I purchased this grain filler and did two coats. The 1st coat went on Ok, it's a little thick to be considered trowel ready but works. Sanded that flat and applied a second coat and waited overnight before sanding that coat. I did a light sand with the random orbit sander and then did the final sand with a block and sandpaper. If you use a RO sander to do all the sanding I find it takes out too much.So I applied my stain to it and some areas didn't take until you physically wiped the stain into it. It was a scare for a bit, but wiping it into the filler it absorbs very nice. I applied 5 coats of 2K poly (1st one was a sealer). 2nd to last coat I did a hard sanding on it because the filler wasn't perfect, really good, but not dead flat. After the hard scuff I put on a heavy coat and waited overnight. Did a light scuff in the morning and put the money coat on. Came out very very nice.I don't know if a 3rd coat would have helped. I thought the overnight dry would eliminate any shrinkage, not quite. Now I'm using it on some Oak doors but only to get the grain to not be bold. Not looking for a dead flat surface.

I was going to return this product because I thought it was white not dark brown, but decided to keep it and try it out.It dries quickly (about 8 hours is what I noticed) depending on thickness and sands easily and smooth. A finer grit sandpaper worked for me. Be aware It has a strong smell so wear a mask.I’m filling in holes in baseboards and built-in closet shelves. It’s a darker color going on white so I have to use a lot of primer. Also I made the mistake of washing an area and not letting it dry completely and I applied the filler…it never dried. I had to remove and start over. Lesson learned that was a mess. So dry areas completely before using! It’s a great product, doesn’t dry out, and a pretty good value with the amount you get. Downside is the smell. Wish they had it in white though.

Thwy say its non shrink but oh boy foes it shrink. If your using this product outdoors make sure it is dry and painted before any rain. If it gets wet even when cured it falls appart and crumbles away. Otherwise its good stuff, you have to get the hang of using it.
