More comfortable than the one the hospital gave me. I was able to modify the abduction pillow to fit me comfortably and the adjustable velcro straps allowed for adjusting to comfortable positions. Recommend

Hands down the best sling for the money. The body pad/wedge is attached to the sling by velcro and can be removed very easily by pulling it off which is very convenient for me while driving so I can sit more comfortably. Shoulder pad is comfortable and can also be removed for wearing a shirt with a collar. The storage pocket is very convenient as well. I put my phone in there while going on walks and its easy to access for controlling my songs and music volume. The sling itself is comfortable enough. I actually lined the inside of it with 1/2" layer of orthopedic felt for more comfort due to my sensitive nerves while awaiting my surgery. The "one size fits all" works out but for me, the sling could be a bit longer and I think it would be nice if they offered it in different sizes such as small, medium, large, and extra large. Overall great sling for the money and I am very happy with it.

We bought the VIVE sling set to replace a basic sling, issued at the ER, that was too large and did not keep the arm in place well. The patient has a fractured shoulder, which is very painful. The VIVE sling itself did a good job of supporting the forearm and keeping it stable. But the pain relief arm pillow and it’s Velcro strap were an extra complication, and the black color made it very hard to see what we were doing when trying to install it and adjust it. At the end of a week in that sling, at the first visit to our orthopedist, we were told that the sling — any sling — was the wrong way to support the broken shoulder. He provided a cuff and collar attanfement that is simpler and he says better for this kind of injury.

The pillow wasn't necessary for me (collar bone fracture), It may be used for shoulder where your arm be raised a bit. It's better than the flimsy Nhs sling. This one has a good neck cushion and I could place my arm into this by myself

I am a 5'9" 175 pound male. I purchased this sling to replace a sling I received from my Surgeon's office after having rotator cuff repair surgery. This sling fits more comfortably and the attachable pillow has a removable ball for hand/stress relief, which is better than the product I had that has a chalkboard eraser-like product for the same functionality. Good value for the price.

It's good quality but not without problems. The velcro allows for a lot of adjustability, but is incredibly difficult to use with a damaged arm or shoulder. The velcro straps are accomodating for large people, but as a slim person this meant I was left with so much slack there was nowhere to secure it. So you start tying knots. With one hand. The strap around your neck is okay, but not great and could be hugely improved. It's akin to wearing a 24/7 sports bag. This really is the limiting factor for wear time and as such utility. Before this I was rocking a dressing gown strap + a prime box wrapped around my arm. So I'm very grateful for the availability and function of this device despite my comparatively minor issues with it. The clasps are convenient for minimising the challenge of using the device in future. Again tricky with 1 hand but less finicky.

If you're reading this, you or a close friend must be enduring the same should injury healing process that I am, thankfully, almost through with. In my case, it was a cycling crash and a broken clavicle. Following my surgery, I was put in a Donjoy Ultrasling III. Hands down an awesome sling. However, as a competitive cyclist I felt compelled to begin indoor training after 2.5 weeks of recovery, with 4 weeks of "sling time" still to go. Knowing how much one sweats while indoor cycling, I decided to buy a second sling for these workouts. The Donjoy is about $120 - 3-4 times the price of this Vive sling, so I bought this one. Overall, it has been great. The general quality is not bad, but the use of slightly lower quality materials and fewer features is apparent. Overall, I would say in comparison you get more for your money with the Vive, but if you want the best, get the Donjoy.I don't mind the slightly lower quality materials and straps, etc. they work just fine and it is only for 6 weeks or so (I hope!). The problem is on both slings there are short straps near the wrist area on each side of the sling that connect to each other and the shoulder strap. This keeps the sides together and provides for a very secure and snug fit when all is connected and it's being worn - no problem there. The problem is that on the Donjoy, each of those short straps are independent and not connected to each other and the shoulder strap has two clip connectors to connect to them both. This means there is nothing that prevents the sling from opening wide at the wrist to allow you to gently lower your arm into the sling with no contortions or to slide the sling from the elbow to the hand. However, on the Vive these two short straps are sewn together and there is only a single connection (a Velcro flap) to connect to the shoulder strap. This means the sling cannot open fully and you cannot gently lower your arm into the sling without first getting your hand and wrist under that sewn-together piece that effectively permanently joins the two sides of the sling. You also cannot slide the sling from the elbow to minimize movement of your arm. There's plenty of room to do this, but in my first few weeks after surgery, there is no way I would have wanted to try that maneuver. I think there is absolutely no justification for this design and the cost to have made the two short straps independent and connect independently to the shoulder strap would have been inconsequential.I do recommend this sling as a low cost alternative to the gold standard Donjoy sling, but be aware that its design may cause you unnecessary pain and suffering if you have a shoulder injury that requires absolutely no movement of the shoulder. If that's the case, get the Donjoy and make the healing process as painless as possible. Good luck to you and get well soon!

Oh my goodness. What a great price for a well-made item. I did purchase a 1-1/2” $4 side release buckle for the over shoulder portion, as the slide buckle would have been too cumbersome to deal with on my own after surgery. Still, even with the $4 addition, this item was less expensive than the other similar items on this venue, as well as so much better than the crummy thing the doctor’s office tried to get me to use and then overcharge my insurance company for (no bolster, no padded shoulder strap, no thumb support and no exercise ball). I simply cut off the slide buckle and inserted the side release buckle in its place. I imagine my portion of what the insurance company would require me to pay would still be more than what I paid for this sling. Also, the “exercise ball” will be wonderful, as it is very light weight and simply Velcro’s to the end of the bolster; plus, the thumb support will be fantastic to prevent wrist pain from lack of support. I had an arm cast not too long ago, and I had to carry a tennis ball in my hand to prevent cramping. As light as a tennis ball is, it always felt too heavy. The exercise ball that comes with this will be fantastic, as it will serve the light-weight dual purpose of preventing hand cramps, as well as being easier to squeeze than a tennis ball. Please do yourself a favor, and purchase this ahead of surgery, so you can get it approved by the doctor and make whatever modifications you deem necessary.
