Bin zufrieden.

The VILTROX 20mm f2.8 FE lens arrives with a promise of portability and performance. Right out of the box, it feels premium in hand, lightweight yet reassuringly solid—a good sign for photographers on the move.Diving into its features, the full-frame 20mm focal length is ideal for landscapes and architectural shots, where expansive scenes are essential. The optical construction, including 2 ED lenses, 1 high refractive index lens, and 2 aspherical lenses, is impressive, aiming to deliver sharp, clear, and distortion-free images. The STM stepping motor is another standout, promising fast and quiet autofocus that's crucial for both stills and video. This is particularly beneficial for videographers who require silence on set.In use, its user-friendliness is apparent; it balances well on Sony E-mount cameras and interfaces seamlessly with their autofocus systems. The lightweight design, weighing just 157g, makes it a go-to choice for travel and street photography. When it comes to performance, the lens meets expectations, providing crisp images with minimal distortion. The minimum focus distance of 0.62 feet allows for a decent level of close-up work, and the maximum magnification ratio of 0.17x, while not macro territory, is sufficient for detailed shots with context. In the landscape of ultra-wide lenses for Sony E-mount cameras, the VILTROX 20mm f2.8 stands out for its balance of price, size, and optical quality. It may not have the brand prestige of Sony's own lenses, but it doesn't seem to fall short in delivering quality results.Value for money? If you're a photographer looking for a capable ultra-wide-angle lens that won't weigh you down or empty your wallet, this lens is a solid choice. The top positive aspects would be the lens's image quality, autofocus performance, and portability. If there's room for improvement, it may be in the maximum aperture of f2.8, which is good but not great in low light compared to f2 or f1.4 lenses.Overall, the VILTROX 20mm f2.8 FE lens is recommended for photographers and videographers looking for a lightweight, wide-angle lens for Sony E-mount cameras. It's ideal for those who value sharpness and portability without the high cost typically associated with similar lenses.

PROS: Phenomenal image quality for the money. Fast, decisive AF in good light, and a decent focus ring for MF. Common filter thread size (52mm). Lightweight. Minimal but effective lens hood which can be stowed backwards when not needed. Great value.CONS: AF hunts a bit in low light, despite decently wide aperture. Bokeh is a little busy. Slightly cheap feeling plastic build, (although build tolerances are extremely tight). I do wonder about the white plastic yellowing over time with use.

It isn't the sharpest lens I wn, but for travel, it's awesomely light.

Picked up this 20mm lens for my Sony camera, and it’s quickly become my go-to for everything from landscapes to street photography. The wide-angle view is perfect for capturing sweeping scenes, and the autofocus is snappy and dead-on, even in lower light. It’s super compact and lightweight, so it’s easy to carry around all day without feeling like your bag is weighing you down. Plus, the build quality feels solid, and the lens itself has a sleek, modern look that pairs nicely with my camera. What really stands out is the sharpness—this thing delivers crisp details and vibrant colors edge-to-edge. I’ve also been impressed with how well it handles bokeh for such a wide lens, making it surprisingly versatile for portraits too. The only minor downside is that it’s not weather-sealed, so you’ll want to be careful in rough conditions. But for the price and performance, it’s a fantastic addition to any kit. Highly recommend if you’re looking to expand your creative options without breaking the bank!

This is only an f2.8 lens, so not as good for low light as some more expensive lenses. But how often will you be using it in very low light anyway? Not to mention that very wide angle lenses are inherently more resistant to image motion, so low light is a bit less of a problem. What comes with that is a lens that is much smaller and lighter than my 20mm for my Nikon - and there is a time when smaller and lighter is a better tradeoff than faster or somewhat better image quality. For most purposes the image quality of this seems fine. It does autofocus quickly and pretty well. All in all, it seems a good option to have available.
