  • When powered off, it’s normal to hear a sound when shaking the lens. This noise is caused by the new VCM motor design, which works similarly to the camera's CMOS stabilization. The sound can occur even when the camera is not powered on.

  • 1, Always open the built-in lens cap before turning on the camera.

2, Make sure to press the quick button to fully open the lens cap before use.

3, Avoid interfering with the lens during the autofocus calibration process after powering on.

  • No, the 28/4.5 FE lens can't work with the NEX series cameras.

  • If the autofocus function does not activate, ensure that the lens cap is fully opened before powering on the camera. If the lens cap is not open, the camera may fail to calibrate the lens properly, preventing autofocus from working.

  • This lens does not support external filters

Was super happy with this purchase. I'm new to photography and am still learning, but I knew I would not want to carry around a big lens with my apsc Sony a6700. I'm a little lady with joint issues so this lens enabled me to carry my camera and not just my phone. I was really happy with the pictures I got on my Japan trip.

This lens is incredibly small and lives up to all the hype I’ve seen online. It weighs hardly anything and has excellent performance. Really effective walk around lens and ideal for street photography. Very happy with the purchase and incredible value for money.

The only autofocus E mount FF pancake out there so far, but hopefully the first of many. The focal length is really usable and impressed at the sharpness for the price. On my A7CII it becomes truly pocketable. However there's a few limitations. The fixed aperture and no filter threads for NDs. Lens cover is built in and prone to breaking. Prone to dust accumulation. This is leagues above many disposable bodycap lenses so if your goal is to be compact then this is for you. I know it's comparing apples to oranges but ultimately ended up sticking with my Sony 40/2.5G instead.

La qualità è giustamente proporzionale al prezzo pagato. Leggerissimo, quasi invisibile, rende la macchina fotografica molto più portatile e versatile. Per street photography è una soluzione perfetta.

I bought this lens to use when traveling on the Sony A1, and used the lens also as a camera cap due to the small size. After owning the lens for about 2 months the in-built lens cover does not open, 1 moth after the return period, so now it is useless as a lens. Also, I recently receied the Sony A1 II and I tried to use it on that body nut the Sony auto focus started to have strange noises. Clearly not compatible with that body. The above explains why I give it only 1 star.I want Viltrox to reach out to me as there is a 1 year warranty on their lenses.

What a terrific little lens. It won’t win any prices for the best image quality ever but for what it costs and the utility it provides it is a fantastic deal. Auto focus is reasonable and image quality is satisfactory on my Sony. I also really like the little switch that lets you protect the lens. When you just want a little walk around, I’m thinking this is gonna be great

Great Little lens. It basically turns your full frame camera into a pocket size point and shoot. It's great to bring with you traveling. Autofocus works great, it's a very good value for the money

My thoughts on the lens after having tested on an A7III and A7C:Overall image quality is rather good, especially in the middle third of the frame, although it's not terrible at the edges either. It's quite sharp, actually. And chromatic aberration is remarkably well controlled. Flair, however, is moderately atrocious in certain shooting situations. I think a hood would help with this, but there's no direct way to mount a hood. Not having the option to manual focus is also kind of an issue for me, but at the price point I'm willing to overlook this.AF works, but it is rather slow and very antiquated. In AF-S mode, it racks focus all the way to infinity (or back to minimum focus distance) and then tries to find the focal point. It is accurate most of the time (~80%) but does miss here and there. Interestingly, it works far better in my testing in AF-C mode, where it exhibits far less "hunting" and seems to be more responsive and accurate. For $99 it's a total banger. Sure, you can't attach a filter or hood or manually focus, but your get a tiny lens that has AF and surprisingly good sharpness and color rendering. I could totally see this being a good street lens, especially if you post-crop a bit to get a more intimate FOV (although frankly I shoot a lot of street at 28mm).

I bought this lens based on reviews I read.I've used a few pancake lens in the past, most recently one from 7artisans. While I've not been all that impressed with their quality, it was generally acceptable and was a fair trade-off for the smallness of the lens. That's pretty much changed with this Viltrox lens. First of all, I did not do any pixel peeping, but I did enlarge every image I took on the computer screen. To my surprise, there was a sharpness I have not seen with previous pancake lenses I've shot with. Contrast was good; I didn't see any color fringing (but other than shooting a few white labels with black lettering, I'd say my test shots didn't really test for this).Overall, I'm happy with this lens. Autofocus is quicker than I'd expected. Lens construction is on par with full-sized Viltrox (and other) lenses I have. I expect this lens will see quite a bit of use.

What this lens lacks in features it makes up for in fun and simplicity. I wish this lens had a lot of things like a variable aperture, manual focus ring, or better close focusing. However, considering it's about the size of a body cap I can't imagine how they would pull any of that off without making it bigger and that would just ruin the experience. What's great:The small size is absolutely amazing. The image quality is great. The autofocus is sufficient, it's no GM but it works well. What could be better:The lens is extremely sensitive to flare and haze, you have to be extremely mindful where your light sources are. The lever to open the lens sticks out a little too much and has gotten snagged when placing in a camera bag and opened the lens.Overall I would highly recommend the Viltrox 28 f4.5, this thing is coming with me everywhere! There is no reason not to have one of these as a fancy body cap with an autofocus skylight!
