Thanking those before me that took the time to write a review. This worked perfectly to connect a digital multi track IZ computer with VGA output to a new HDMI monitor. Worked like a charm once I read a review that mentioned that the unit needs to be plugged in via the USB. Excellent product, fast shipping. Thank you!

I got this when I was having issues using the eye track in one of my Dell servers. Coupled with a separate mobile LED panel, I was able to diagnose and access via the VGA port. Easy to use, quick plug and Play functionality an absolute lifesaver save me hours of time. Cables are long, well jacketed, good strain relief sections and a great value for the money.

Here's some search terms for people trying to find this item for my use case:server, poweredge, dell, r740, VGA to HDMI, does it work for bios, text modeLet's face it. VGA is out. The fact that it's still on relatively modern server systems indicate the industries apprehension to change and failure to adopt innovations. For some weird reason, it's very difficult to find an actual working VGA to HDMI because of the whole analog to digital conversion thing. That said, THIS ONE WORKS.I have a portable monitor that is powered over USB-C and only accepts mini-HDMI (also a dumb port). I was lugging a whole TV back and forth from the guest room because it as the only thing I had with an old VGA port on it. I bought a couple other adapters that didn't work, ones that claim to be "unidirectional" which also didn't work (i.e. they weren't uni). Finally I found this one that actually works on this 1080p HDMI monitor.Do you need to access the BIOS on your dell server? Does it only have VGA? do you need to reset the iDRAC password by resetting it in the BIOS but don't have a 100 year old VGA monitor? THIS IS FOR YOU.I hope other people find this, I searched high and low for days and days trying to find a working adapter that actually worked for text only modes, bootup, and to access the BIOS. Finally! This is something I'll have in my "bag of tricks" into the future, or at least until the obstinate server industry evolves and gets rid of dumb old VGA.
