I purchased this Vevor Belt Disc sander based upon the description and some reports that other Vevor products were fairly decent. Not this one, at least not for me.Upon unboxing the unit I inspected it. The base is not cast iron as described but rather stamped sheet steel. The miter gauge is plastic. The work tables are thin die cast aluminum. The disc backing plate is cast aluminum. I never installed it to see if there was run out. Overall appearance was good but the good stopped right there. If you plan to use this to grind steel use caution. The port for the vacuum attachment and the entire area that receives material that has been sanded is made of plastic. I don't think it would hold up to hot sparks over a period of time. Before assembly I wanted to see and hear it run to check for smoothness and loudness. I plugged it in flipped the switch and the motor just hummed, loudly. I checked for free movement of the belt and disc and they moved easily and were unobstructed. I tried several more items to get it to run to no avail. The loud hum was all that occurred. I suspect a faulty capacitor but it's not my job to diagnose or fix a brand new item so I boxed it back up and sent it back the same day I received it.I realize anyone can make a defective product but what really got to me was the false advertising. A cast iron base dampens vibration and provides heft to stabilize and the description clearly stated this unit has a CI base, which it doesn't. The cheap plastic miter gauge was another turn off and the plastic vacuum ports and chip receiving areas wouldn't be adequate for my se since I planned to use it for both wood and steel. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is true. I'll save up and spend the bigger money to buy a belt disc sander with cast iron tables, probably a 6 x 48 and it will last me the rest of my life and work without complaint on the heaviest projects.
