very heavy ( a good thing). As a last resort I used it to get the bush hog blade arm off the spindle it probably been on for half a century or more. Nithing else would budge it !

I had the need to remove a heavy cast iron flywheel off of a 4 horse DC motor and the screw type gear pullers weren't cutting it. I bought this puller after reading some reviews. It removed the flywheel effortlessly. No idea how close to 15 tons of force it generated but with every stroke of the handle it moved about 1/16". At one point, I did have to stack a couple of hex nuts inside the bore of the flywheel because the cone shaped pusher was not deep enough but that is to be expected with any puller. I will say this: the other reviewers are not kidding about the weight :) It can be awkward to set up the three arms, then screw the hydraulic ram into the yoke while keeping everything in place. To help with that, really tighten up all the bolts so that the three arms are held in place and not flopping around. The power of the hydraulics will easily overcome the friction from the bolts. No need to worry about that. Just have it tight enough so that gravity does not cause everything to fall out of place as you're setting it all up. Also, even though the yoke can be used with two opposing arms, unless the pushing cone is EXACTLY lined up with the notch in the shaft, it will bend to one side as you work the hydraulics, just like with a screw type pullerI am 100% pleased with this. Zero regrets. Even if I only use it once a year, just knowing that it is vastly capable of pulling anything off of anything, makes it worth the $70 :D

Overall, I'd put it somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Haven't used it a lot yet to judge durability, but overall it appears well made with heavy components. I got this because I have run into situations where I do not want the center ram to turn the way it does with a standard screw-type puller. Instead, it uses a sort of jack handle you pump to advance the ram. By pushing straight forward, the ram will not try to twist anything you are working on, and has much less tendency to try to mushroom the end of the shaft on a hard pull. Overall, it comes neatly packaged in a carrying/storage case, and works pretty well. I like that it can be used as either a 2 jaw or 3 jaw puller, and that you can have the jaws longer or shorter to match the job. The overall design is similar to the old reliable OTC Grip-O-Matic in that as you apply pressure, the jaws tend to hold tighter. It doesn't hold quite as tight as the OTC, but it comes close and is a fraction of the price. Overall I'm glad I got them as they were just what I needed to make a couple jobs go better, and the price was worth the convenience. I consider these to be a 'nice to have' category more than the 'gotta have' category. If I could only have one puller, it would be a Posi-Lock because the jaws are tightened onto the work and held in place with a cage, my 2nd choice would be a convertible OTC Grip-O-Matic internal/external 2 jaw/3 jaw puller, for its versatility and compact size, and when I needed a 3rd style of puller, this one rounded out my collection nicely.

Used these to take off the drums on my 2004 Ford Taurus. The build quality is great and the product is super easy to use. Highly recommend this quality gear puller over some of the more cheap and “gimicky” options.

Use the device at least twice before your return period ends. Make your purchase very close to the time you are planning on doing your repairs. I and now stuck with the claw!
