I've installed a lot of these generator inlet boxes alongside with interlock panel kits. This one was not any lesser of quality. I'm starting to believe most of these are made at the same facility and have identical hardware. Only exception is the Reliance brand, but those cost twice as much. This one is a 30amp which is fine for up to 7500w generators. Anything beyond that, you'll want a 50amp inlet box with accompanying wiring/breaker/interlock kit. Do not skip on the interlock kit, it can save lives and electronics from frying. I recommend having a professional install this.

The Veepeak L5-30R inlet box is what you need to connect a generator to your house panel, RV, barn, or whatever. The box looks really well made. I like that the knockouts are premade, which means you won't have rust from cutting out your own. The cover closes very tightly and is made of very thick plastic, so I expect it to be durable. I am using this for an input on a job trailer and it's works perfectly for that. This is ETL labeled, so you shouldn't have any issues with inspections.

Picked this up to add a generator inlet box to my neighbor's electrical panel after our neighborhood had a pretty long power outage this winter. I had picked up an nearly identical box from another brand a week ago and was quite happy with it, so we selected this box as it looks very visually similar. Upon receiving it the two are the very same so I will copy over most of my review from that one here.Initial impressions, this is a VERY high quality inlet box.The box itself is thicker gauge steel than the Square D electrical panel its connecting into which was surprising, especially compared to ones I've seen in hardware stores from companies like Reliance which feel sorta cheap. Along the lines of quality, everything is gasketed and all the outlet ports come with high quality gasketed plugs, including a spare plug. The socket itself also feel very solid and easily accepted 10 gauge wire, including enough depth in the box to be able to route the wire out any of the ports easily. Also the grounds are already hooked up with nice quality copper (yes actual copper, not copper clad aluminum) 10 gauge wire and all the connections were actually tight. My favorite part though, unlike others (such as the aforementioned reliance box) this actually accepts real NEMA L5-30P connectors with threaded covers. This not only ensures that a connected cable stays put, but also helps keep the weather out which is a big plus. All in all, this is a very good and solidly built generator inlet box at half the cost of the name brands. I would have no issue recommending this to anyone looking to add or replace an inlet box to their panel.

Heavy, all steel enclosure with 4 pre-punched holes for standard 3/4" electrical fittings. One on the back, one on the bottom , and one on each side. Each hole is about 1&1/8" diameter. Instead of using knock-outs, they stamped out all 4 holes and used threaded plastic covers with nuts. Much more user friendly for the non-professional home user. The back side of the L5-30 connector has the clamp style wire connections. Much better then the old style where you had to wrap the wire around a screw and try to tighten the screw and keep the wire strands from slipping out. There is a green LED that lights when there is power on the connector and it has the threaded plastic ring around the connector for those screw on, water tight, power cords. It also came with one spare hole cover and nut and one rubber grommet to protect the wire passing through the back hole into the structure, assuming that's how you plan to use this box.

This 30a generator box is built like a tank!I wired this into the side of my house for emergency generator plug in. The terminal connections are really good quality and the box itself is super sturdy. I like how many punch outs there are so I can customize the fit to my project. Plus it has the outside threads that a sleeve cover uses for a waterproof seal when my cable is plugged in.I would definitely buy this again!

We haven't had a generator before...despite years of the occasional and prolonged power outages in our North Carolina area...but after Hurricane Helene...we bit the bullet and got set up for the future outages. This inlet box is a necessity when you're getting outfitted with a generator.I've heard of people plugging into the dryer outlet...turning off the main breaker...and providing power to the household circuits that way...but having an inlet outside with a dedicated breaker in the panel is a better and safer way to go.This inlet box is well constructed and looks like it will provide many years of safe service. Not hard to install...It is going to be great to have power when we need water or to charge devices...
