I had a four inch diameter auger that I have used for years to plant my tomato seedlings. This purchase has provided me with a selection of sizes for flowers and smaller seedlings. I advise you to use a solid 1/2" drill if you are using these augers in clay soil. I managed to burn up a cheap 3/8" drill planting 120 tomato seedlings this spring. Overall, these augers are well built and do the job well.

In hard compacted soil conditions, you have to use one of the smaller bits to start the hole for the largest bit. Otherwise the largest auger doesn’t bite into the ground. I have drilled about 200 holes with the 2 middle sized bits and I was really expecting a weld to break early on. So far, so good. With the right sized drill these are really a pleasure to use. I remember many years ago I really struggled to use one of these with a dewalt 14volt drill. Because of that under powered drill I always thought that auger bits for a drill was a stupid idea. Now that power tool technology has far surpassed what we had 15-20 years ago, this auger bit idea is relevant. I had seed started my garden with 12 and 16 ounce cups and the auger bit was the perfect size to just drop the plant in the ground with barely any backfilling of extra dirt moving. And even if a weld breaks, I’ll just get it welded again. I can see these being used to put in my spring flowers for decades to come. Thanks!

I was planting a tree and I wanted a pilot hole for my 6 inch manual auger. If you use it the way it's designed to be used, it will work great. Start with the smallest auger first and then progress to the largest. If you start with the largest auger, you shouldn't be using this tool. Great product.

These are very good for the cost. I did not need to dig deep, large size holes. I wanted something that was lightweight and easy to use. These fit that bill very well.

These augers worked great for planting small trees. It saved so much time and the many different sizes made this work well as the trees were different sizes. It was easy to insert one of these augers in the cordless drill. It was worth the cost as it saved so much time.
