Didn't work for me. I tried using it in Grenada silt loam soil in my garden to drill pilot holes for tomato stakes. Complete failure. I think you would need a drill with very large handles on bothe sides. Put another way a handheld drill proved to much for me to hold and the drill itself turned not the auger as I could not hold that much torque. Not easy to use, as I had envisioned. Also, I had planned to use it to make coyote trap sets but nope didn't work.

Works great , bit of a knack to use. Better in packed or undesturbed soil

I used this on my lawn to aerate an area that had become hard, almost claylike, due to water runoff. This was Perfect! I did not have to bend or strain as opposed to the shorter auger type attachments. It easily went in to the ground and I was done in 30 minutes. Do not pass up something this affordable to make your life way easier.

I used to dread digging holes in my yard, but the 32" x 2" Extended Length Garden Auger Drill Bit has made it surprisingly easy. It attaches right to my power drill and powers through tough soil like a champ, saving me a ton of time (and backaches!). The extended length really comes in handy, so I don’t have to bend over as much, and it’s strong enough to handle everything from planting bulbs to loosening soil for post-hole diggers. I’m honestly amazed at how much this little tool has simplified my garden projects, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to make yard work less of a chore.

Being 6’2, it’s a bit of a pain to crouch down to dig holes. This auger was absolutely amazing to quickly punch holes in to the ground. It’s relatively strong, I have a rocky yard and it didn’t so much as chip, it works exactly as intended, absolutely worth it.

I was faced with the task of driving a dozen 2 inch round metal posts into some seriously compacted ground that seemed impenetrable. I saw this auger on Amazon and wondered if it might do the trick. If it just lasted for my dozen post holes I would be happy. I was amazed at how well the auger dug its way into the gravelly, compacted ground using a Ryobi battery powered drill. Occasionally it would meet a larger piece of gravel that it could not push past so I would use a heavy pry-bar to smash that larger piece and then proceed with the auger. At the end of a dozen holes the auger was still in perfect condition apart from losing its paint from the working surfaces. I had been afraid that in such compacted, gravelly ground the auger spiral would become separated from the shaft. It showed no signs at all of this happening. Two years later the auger is still in use and still delivering. I found that the two inch hole it bores in the ground is perfect for a two inch metal post. Using the auger the post hole can be bored out to two feet deep. The post is a very snug fit into the hole and must be hammered in. The result is a firm setting of the post that does not need concrete to hold it in place. This worked very well in the compacted soil I was working with. If the soil had been loose or sandy that might not have been sufficient. Over the two years since I purchased this auger I have used it on a number of occasions - often for loosening soil along the line of a ditch ahead of digging it out. This has saved me a lot of effort. I would strongly recommend this auger.

J’ai deux gros composteurs carrés et cette vrille s’installe facilement sur une perceuse et il est facile de rentrer et sortir du compost afin de brasser un peu le tout et faire des trous d’aération. Je recommande. Très bon outil.

I chose this particular auger for a couple reasons. One, the shaft is a solid piece of steel, not a tube. Secondly, the hex attachment end allows for a non slip connection to your drill. One issue that I immediately saw was that the hex was covered with a heavy layer of paint, which is why some reviews mentioned that the drill stripped II out. Before using it, I scraped off the paint, and used a wire wheel to remove it down to bare steel. It then clamped securely in the drill chuck. Sandpaper or a file would also work, but risk rounding off the hex edges. It's definitely worth the 5 minutes spent to insure its long term function.

It's good for making quick narrow holes in soil that's fairly compacted but not too rocky. Allows you to stand while drilling. Problems: it bends after a few hundred times using it, and the drill bit end has a coating that wears off so that the drill has trouble getting a secure grip.

Fantastic product! Did more than advertised! Back this tool with a Milwaukee or Dewalt drill and you can dislodge an inch and a half rock from beneath the soil. Keep in mind you have to dig a couple of inches then pull the bit out of the ground for best results. Unfortunately, I will never buy this product again because it is so solid I will never need another.
