Feels solid and sturdy. It's short, as listed, so will have to get down low with it to get the samples, but feels nice and sturdy and can easily be pushed into the soil

This product was perfect for what I needed. Soil samples in clay soils are hard no matter what tool you use. This product did its job, allowed me to get the sample I needed with very little effort.

Well built & super Satisfied. The beveled edge cuts right through & with a little twisty turning while pushing it goes right through. This is a 6” core with no effort using the 12” “T”-Handle & the side cut out works perfect. Great Product for sure

This soil probe is so useful and will last a lifetime. You can actually see how well you’re watering down through one foot of soil. The price was fantastic, too.

After pricing soil testing kits I about fainted. Then I discovered Texas A&M tests here in Texas much cheaper than the average test kit AND gives fertilizer recommendations. Also, the tests are good for 3-5 years! Check with your state as I bet you have a place that does something similar. After realizing I could send off soil to be tested I needed a soil sampler. I was nervous about finding one that would be cheaply made or fall apart because I knew I would have to beat on it with a rubber mallet with this tough soil I have. This sampler is incredible. I beat on it for 15 samples in front/back yard and another 15 samples for the field. It looks brand new and held up beautifully.Keep in mind the opening is OVER 6 inches and it is done that way so you have room to get the dirt out. I put some electrical tape to mark exactly 6 inches which was perfect. So glad I bought this as it will save so much money and time. Have a great day everyone!

The Varomorus Soil Sampler Probe 21" Stainless Steel Tubular T-Style Handle, arrived in the pictured protective sleeve, that will also double as storage covers. The item is made of good durable stainless steel that has a curved pointed end for ground insertion/penetration. Inserting the probe into the ground took little effort ( 6' tall and 215lbs), thanks to having an all-day drizzling rain here in Maryland on 24 May and watering on 23 May.The soil sampling was conducted on 25 May, the day of receiving the Varomorus soil probe for taking several core samples from my lawn. The probe made easy work of taking several core samples that can either be pushed out from the endpoint by a finger or tool, as well as from the opening on the tool.Mind you though that the soil was somewhat conditioned from the rain and watering, but there was some point the groud offered some resistance to the probe insertion, yielding not a full core sample.Nonetheless, my decision to purchase the Varomorus Soil Sampler Probe 21" Stainless Steel Tubular T-Style Handle was based on the reviews and it is determined that the decision was well worth it.My desire to purchase the item was based on video reviews from lawn care personnel on the benefits of taking soil samples for testing soil nutrient levels for growing a healthy lawn and garden. Now, all there is to do is to await the soil testing results of my lawn.

I love this thing, I just wanted to test my soil at the house. All thick stainless and the inside diameter at the bottom is a little smaller so the soil is removed easily from the tube. The OD looks big but between the thickness of the material and being necked down a bit at the bottom of the tube I found it just right. Makes about a 3/4" sample and had no issues pushing it into clay. Worth every penny, sure beats trying to get a good sample with a trowel.

Muy buen producto, de buena calidad, funcional. Tardó un poco en llegar (se entiende, viene desde Ucrania), pero no importa. Muy buen precio.

When first looking at this probe, I’ll be honest I balked at the price. Half a C note for a piece of metal I might use twice a year?! Crazy! After looking at other soil probes in stores and reading reviews here on Amazon (they weren’t good for most of the cheap ones) I begrudgingly purchased this one as it seemed like the best quality one at a price not approaching $100. I’m very glad I did.The quality of this tool is top notch. All the edges are smooth, there is no flex when you push it into even the driest of soil, and it has a nice large sample collection area. Does it have all the features of the AMS model? No. But for half the price and my uses it’s perfect.Regarding uses. When I ordered this I was only thinking of taking soil samples for testing and looking at grass root growth but this can be used for SO much more then that. I use it regularly for checking the soil moisture, especially with sprinkler systems, finding sprinkler lines (I do a fair bit of sprinkler work) looking at soil layers and composition, finding sprinkler leaks, probing for trenching a cable, and lots more. The ability to see all the layers of soil is fantastic and the tool does a great job going through even tough, bone dry, soil.Bottom line this is a very well made, sturdy tool that has way more uses then you might think at first. As someone who does a lot of landscape work both lighting and irrigation, and is a lawn & garden nut, I should have purchased this tool a LONG time ago. Yes the price is high for “just a probe” but compared to what they sell basic steel probe rods for at the big box store, it’s worth it.

I have been very impressed with the soil sampler. It is well made and easy to use. It has been really useful to see the soil structure at various points in my lawn so that I can add what is needed where it is needed. It has also saved me water, since I can now easily see how deep the water has penetrated the soil so no over watering which sure is handy if on a water meter :) I can also now see how compacted the soil is and how far the grass roots go down which helps to decide when/where to aerate for optimal lawn health. This is a very well made tool, highly recommended.
