This probe will only take about 1” of my soil before the resistance is too much and stops the core from cutting and filling the sample tube. The issue is that the tip is not any narrower than the tube, so there is just constant resistance on the core as it is trying to slide up. Most core samplers have a narrower cutting tip so the core just slides freely up the tube, not this one though.

Didn’t want to pay the high price at the landscaping store for something to stick in the ground. This product was much cheaper and do the job perfectly

Very helpful to be able to take a sample at specified depth, as for soil analysis without digging a large hole. Depending on your soil you made need an additional tool to extract the sample and remove rocks that may get stuck in the tube.
