Most hubs and switches do not come with the cables, that's on the buyer. There is no reason to mark this down for not having cables. The product description is clear and accurate about what you're getting. What came in the box is the switch, a male to male 3.5mm cable, the remote button, and the manual. The switch is all female plugs, so you will need a male to male cable with at least one USB A connection to connect to whatever source computer you're using. My desktop has USB C as well as USB A plugs, so I was able to use a male USB C to a male USB A cable. If you want to use the 2 input and one output configuration, you'll need two male to male cables. This is completely normal.I have a headphone stand/USB hub that lights up, and it's also where I have my RGB speakers plugged into, but when I shut down my computer, it still draws power and doesn't shut off the lights. Not horrible, but really wanted to be able to shut off the lights without having to change my plug configuration so I got this switch. After I shut down my computer, I switch to the empty input. Everything goes dark as intended. My headphones, speakers, and webcam all run through the hub and there was no loss of image or sound quality by introducing the switch. No noticeable lag or issues at all. The switch is right on my desk so I don't need the remote button extension, but I did test it and it works smoothly. I do like the option of having it though, in case I end up moving things around in the future. Does exactly what I need it to, but it also gives me more options in the future, so it'll be handy to have around.

I have a switch and got this one for my daughter. She loves it as she works from home and - like me - switches between her laptop and her work PC, while utilizing one monitor. The time to switch between the laptop and the PC is minimal. The desktop controller however is not as fast but the delay is not that noticeable.

I use this to share a 1-terabyte thumb drive between my computer and my TV. About once a week I write videos/movies (which I obtain VIA torrents) from my PC directly to this large thumb drive. And then hit one of two included buttons attached to the switcher and it connects to my TV instead of the PC (ad visa versa). There is no external power required. It has all the right connectors unlike most others that are all USB-C male connectors and require multiple adapters as well as an external power source. This doesn't require an extra streaming device, NAS, or software protocol "solution" to be configured on the network. It saves wear and tear on the USB ports as there is no unplugging and re-pluging, I can use any of my TV's native remote controls to watch a movie rather than some lame software-based player and/or a cell phone app (ugh) which have different interfaces for every streaming source. It doesn't consume any electricity, and doesn't get hot. There's no third-party spying on your video viewing habits. It doesn't require anything else except the TV to be plugged in for playback. You don't even need a network connection for playign the videos, just for downloading them every so often. I have all that other "stuff" hooked up and configured for other uses but it's overkill for casually watching movies and other videos at leisure.Call me old-school but this has always been my preferred movie-watching solution. And now made even better with this simple USB switcher. I don't have to move - or even see - the thumb drive or the switcher itself. It's all stashed behind my TV and VIA an 8-foot USB-A cable from PC. I just use it's handy remote button (included and optionally installed) to switch between writing from my PC to reading/watching the movies on my TV VIA it's own native USB port (VIA the built-in Roku Media Player) .Of course there are plenty other more typical uses for this. This is just my real-world and somewhat non-typical example of how I use it.

I chose this switch because I needed a way to switch between a Raspberry Pi and Windows PC using the same keyboard. And, as a device, I have zero complaints with this switch, especailly at the $10 price it was at the time I ordered it. And for that reason, I've given it five stars. But, you need to know some things before ordering it so you can use it when it arrives as no cables are included (not a complaint). The three device connections, as shown, are USB-A connections. Connecting your keyboard or mouse or printer or USB-A thumb drive to the switch is no issue. But, going to the device at the other end is where it gets interesting. You will need a USB-A to plug into the switch. If your other device has, for example, a USB-C input, you are probably okay. But if you're plugging into a USB-A port, then take note. Most USB-A cables have a USB-C, USB-B (printer), USB micro, USB mini, Lightning, etc. on the other end. You probably don't have many cables with USB-A on both ends. So, for me, going from to the USB-A on the two computers meant I needed either to buy two USB-A to USB-A cables or two adapters to connect to the switch. I happen to have some adapters and that's what I'm using. And, as I've said, they work fine. For the remote, you need a 1/8-inch audio cable, male at both ends (also not provided). I have many of those laying around, so that wasn't an issue, either. You do not need the remote to use the switch. The remote is only needed if you want to be able to change the input, well, remotely. The bottom line is you need to know how you're going to connect your devices before you order and make sure you have the required cables or adapters to take advantage of this neat little switch.Note: I did receive this item at no cost in order to offer an objective review. The item was supplied by Amazon, not the manufacturer, and I have been offered no incentive to give a positive review.
