The decals weren’t placed on correctly, the plastic was still on them and no directions came with racks, I bought two sets for two kayaks.When you pull the plastic off of the partially placed logo some of the decal lifts causing an ugly mess that must be covered with something else (i used hockey tape). All in all the aluminum looks nice and are easy enough to adjust the bars at the angle you need.Installation instructions could be much better, not a lot of detail in the pictures.

I made a small adjustment after initial install attempt. I use washer and nut to hold bolt on then I use other washer and twist nut to clamp to cross bar. I played around with various holding arrangements but settled it was best with top facing out. Also was concerned about if I would have to uninstall to park in garage, but I am pleased to say that even in its tallest position I can still make it in the garage. However I cannot get in with a kayak lashed down. Hope the photos help. was surprised to see it came with 2 sets of 2 different handles. BONUS I guess....

UPDATE: I found that the added length of the screw is because the plastic knob holding the nut is not flat. It has an extension of sorts that is about an inch long. After I cut the bolt to size I found that I could not use that plastic piece as there was not enough bolt protruding to catch the nut. I had to remove the nut from that knob and add a washer and just wrench the nut on tight. On one hand, I loose the easy installation and removal feature. But on the other hand, it will be harder to steal.As for using the system, having to reach up and loosen each end of the carrier to get it into place and then do the same afterwards to lower it is for me a pain. My old set that this replaced had a simple handle that you could easily reach, pull, and the carrier flipped up or down.So when I add in the extra time and effort to try and find bolts, cut what I had, wrench them on and off, get a step ladder to reach and adjust the carrier, make sure I have a wrench available.... I should have gone with the brand name more expensive models.****************************So far I have not been able to use this. The THULE system I have has carriage bolts about 2 1/2 inches long. This system came with larger (metric) that are about 3 1/2 inches long. I can't connect it to my crossbar as the screws hit the roof. No way to get the thumb nut on. Trying t o find the same metric thread on a carriage bolt has been very difficult. If and when I can use them I will try and write a review.

Mounting system did not match my cross bars perfectly. (Had to add rubber pad to prevent marring)Time consuming to install. (Wish someone would come up with a quick clamp design)Had to shorten mounting bolts to allow for sufficient spacing from end of bolt to rooftop.Didn't care for the rachet straps that was provided.After a few modifications, for the money these are not bad.

The build quality of this rack is incredible. The fact it was so inexpensive left me sceptical but after installing it I couldn't be happier.It holds my 50lb 12' rec kayak with ease. My only issue was with the provided mounting hardware.The bolts were too long for the clearance on my '05 Sienna's cross bars so I cut the bolts with a hacksaw, filed the threads and here it is!Amazing product for the cost!!

I purchased 2 sets of these for my kayak and paddleboard. The first pair took me a little while to Install, about 30 min, and then about 20 min for the 2nd pair. So far they have held up well travelling on the interstate at 70MPH. I did change out the ratchet straps with NRS straps, personal preference. I do like the S straps for the front and rear. Mounted these on a Subaru Outback.

It was very nice and sturdy. Came with all the essentials. The instructions were only a few pictures but could have included more with the various universal fit installation differences. The extra carry handles for the kayak was a nice touch but lacked the hardware to install. The rachets, tie downs and pair of straps that came with it were great. All in all some extra pictures and hardware to install the handles would make it a 5 star item. I would definitely recommend this product.
