Please note: This tool is designed specifically for flat metal sheets and cannot cut ribbed roofing, R-type, or L-shaped metal sheets.

This shear came in a box that had a label warning me to read the instruction manual before using. Seemed like a good idea until I opened the box and did NOT find any such manual - no instructions at all. Though I had a general idea how it was supposed to be assembled, I went to the Amazon item webpage for a picture of an assembled product on a drill but all I saw was a small (tiny) icon in the corner of one of the pictures. Through trial and error, I did get it assembled. I tried it out first on a canned food can lid. Relatively thin metal, it cut through it easily. I later tried it on an old chimney air duct which was a lot thicker. The shear did an ok job until it came to a folded ridge and then it stopped. It does take some getting used to in order to cut on a relatively straight line but it is do-able. If you have a flat sheet of metal to cut, then this is definitely a tool to have in your arsenal.

No matter what I try, it doesn't cut straight. Keeps pulling to the right. Instructions says it can't be used on ribs making it useless for cutting metal roofing.

This thing is a pain to set up and tear down off your drill. Once it is set up it's uncomfortable as hang to actually grip your drill. It doesn't really grab into the metal to cut like I hoped so you have to push it through as it's cutting, etc.Honestly if it's small cuts at all just use hand cutters. Would be easier and probably better results.But also...it's an automated sheet metal cutter for quite cheap (assuming you already have the drill anyway). Which is something. If you need to do big long cuts in sheets I could see it being worthwhile.But that's it...only very very specific instances would I get this out over hand cutters.

Attached to my drill and started cutting cardboard, thick paper, out of date credit cards and CDs. I also found a rf cover from an old computer that was easily cut through too. Thicker material requires the drill to be at it's highest torque setting.

This attachment is a pretty handy tool for small DIY projects. It hooks up easily to a drill and cuts through sheet metal smoothly without leaving rough edges.
