Perfect fit for our freezer. My husband was able to fix the ice machine himself. Thanks!

Minor pita to confidently ensure correct orientation of crushed ice blades, but overall an easy DIY task if you own a slot screwdriver. My old one broke because of a failing defrost thermistor (I suspect) that allowed ice cubes to melt into a conglomeration on every defrost cycle, so that's my next issue.

It fits if you remove two washers. Other reviews said this new auger is 1/8 in longer than the original auger. Said they removed two washers that were on the original rod when they put it back together. It worked! Put everything on a straw or long stick when you dismantle it so you get it back in the right order. I used blue painters tape to secure a few parts also making it easier to put back together. $20 is better than $85 for a real GE part. And $20 is better than $220 for a repair company. I’m a normal grandparents… I did it. You can to. Watch the videos on YouTube first!!! Important Have fun.

Perfect fit replacing the old OEM auger in my GE Refrigerator Ice Maker that had started to disintegrate on me. Following a video found on YT, the replacement was very easy to do and MUCH less expensive than replacing the whole unit or having to request a service call.

As originally shipped, it is a bit too long which causes the auger to not spin freely once it is put back. However, I did not have to modify it. I noticed my old auger had two washers that were acting as spacers that add up to a little over 1/8" in thickness. By removing these and re-assembling and re-installing, the auger spun freely. Not sure if the washers were there for the purpose of fine adjustment, but removing them worked perfectly for me.

My GE Profile side-by-side (15 years in service and still running) suddenly wont dispense ice any longer and i can hear the motor humming while no ice dropping. My son was able to fill up his glass the day before but noticed a broken plastic sharp fragment in his glass so i check and thought it was probably just one of the food in the freezer in plastic container that got broken and somehow made it to the ice maker bucket.I pulled out the bucket and then voila a freezable 2"x4" container got stuck in the bucket and jammed against the auger forcing the largest spiral to split and broke into many large pieces. I ordered this replacement by making sure i have the correct part # from GE OEM WR17X11939 based from the Model of my GE refrigerator GSS25WSTASS.Straight forward disassembly, 4 screws to remove, snap-in clips (be careful not to break). Comparing the old and this one ordered, from the other review it is true that there's one difference from the original and the replacement. OAL is the same, spirals are same except for one discrepancy - the metal rod at the end of the auger that holds the ice crushers with several plastic washers, 2 SS washer with the inside shaped as the auger threaded rod (rectangular) same as the 3 ice crushers with engraved # 7, 8 , 9 for identification and should be installed in the same manner together with the bundle pivot crusher that holds its place in the assembly bucket, the length of the round metal rod from the spiral to the point where it became rectangular for locking the 3 ice crushers in the threaded part is a tad longer than the original. I first assembled it using all parts and in reverse order of disassembly when i snap in the auger together with assembly to the ice bucket, the auger has a hard time rotating freely like something is caught between the crusher portion (original setup the auger moves freely with little effort to turn by hand). I disassemble then re-assemble again this time removing one of the SS washer at the end where it locks to the portion where the rod becomes round shape. Auger now moves freely just like the original design. Plug back in to the freezer slot and did a test with a few ice. toink -- ice is now being pushed outside and dropping nicely. tested the crushed settings as well and its perfect.I highly recommend this aftermarket replacement auger 5 stars!

The overall size of the auger was correct, but the length of the exposed metal at the front end was too long compared to my original (1/4 inch?). Once assembled, this made the auger was way too tight! I had to remove a couple of washers at that end to make it work properly. Works fine now. I haven't tried crush setting. Note: Not hard to take apart and reassemble as long as you monitor how the auger blades was taken apart. Watch videos online for your refrigerator.
