I might use it as a letter opener but probably not. It's going into my dog grooming supplies. The tip is pointed but not sharp and easy to get under a matted chunk of fur. The blade is sharp and cuts through the mats and thick undercoat to be able to brush them more easily. Seems to be good quality and fits the hand nicely. I've got them in a few places so that I can open letters easily without making a mess of the envelope. It also allows the envelopes to be repurposed for a 2nd use before discarding. I do wish it had a hole in the plastic portion so it can be hung on paperclip or from a hook. There are 2 tiny holes on the blade; but, I'd prefer that the blade be untouched.

My wife and I have to open a lot of mail. Having these things around have definitely been helpful, but I do think they have to be viewed as more of a disposable item because when they dull there is really nothing that can be done. More like a tooth brush than a knife. That's not a huge criticism, just know what you are getting.
