I didn't even know something like this existed but it has been a nice little surprise. I have an old lamp that I haven't really been able to use because it is just frustrating to turn on and off. This has given the lamp an entirely new life to where I actually use it now. I wish there was a slider or a dial though to adjust the level instead of trying to time your release.

I'm not sure if I just got a defective one, but clicking the button to turn the lights on or off doesn't work on the one I received. If I push the button it sets the light to the absolute lowest level of dimness but it doesn't turn it all the way off. I didn't notice this when I used it during the day, but at night it becomes evident that the light is still on and drawing power even if the lights are extremely dim you can still see that the filament is illuminated. This is a little self-defeating since I bought these to use with Christmas lights that were way too bright. I love that this effectively dims them to a more pleasant level, but it's not offering the convenience I'd hoped it would in being able to shut the lights completely off. The plug itself is ridiculously big, so if you're using it on a power strip like I am, be advised that it uses a lot of real estate to get the job done. I like the versatility of the button, I just wish it did what it advertises.

After trying a different design of controller I switched to this. It is exactly what I was looking for. This is well made and operation is simple. I find it quite convenient to use with a toggle power switch so I don't have to bend over every time, and with hanging plants I can use it without having to stretch for the light control. The switch cord is long enough that I can place it behind almost anything I need to.There is a light on the main outlet to show when it is in use, but there is no light on the button to control it which I find odd.I have had issues with controllers that don't dim correctly or pop the bulbs but this unit didn't have either of those problems. Well made, does what it is supposed to do, and convenient.

I have owned this product since September and as of last night(in December)has stopped working. I tried this product on multiple other lamps and found that it would not operate. To be fair I have enjoyed this product for the 4 months of its operation but of course I wish it lasted longer.

I am using this with a light on my headboard. For the price, it is ok, would be 3 1/2 stars.I would have appreciated a plug that doesn't block a bunch of space, and I would like another foot or two of wire - it doesn't reach the middle of the headboard. The dimming is nice, may take some experimenting to figure out the best setting. It's a slow fade to your setting so at first I thought it wasn't working, but then it faded in.

This is one of the best dimmers I've ever tried. The Off to tap On feature works great.Tap on and hold, and then it starts to dim. Let go and it remembers that dim level. Each time you tap it, it automatically returns to the remembered dim level. The touch on start up is a smooth ramping up to the dim level. It's not an instant on, just a nice smooth start. I really like the tap on feature. This dimmer worked with several loads for me. Including some LEDs lamps that claimed to be dimmable but just didn't work with other dimmers. Other dimmers caused them to flash at low levels. No problem with this dimmer at all. This can dim down and keep a pleasant, consistent low dim level.Build quality is outstanding. The switch is solid but only requires a light tap. The cord is just thick enough to do the job, it’s not a heavy cord, as the actual dimmer part is contained into the wall box. It bends around the table discreetly. There is no heat in the wall box or switch. Nice and cool. This is a very affordable price for such a high-quality dimmer.I'm going to get a few more for the bedroom nightstand lights, and the living room.

Dimming works surprisingly well. I used this on a halogen desk lamp and It worked as advertised. Turn it on and it kinda fades in, and turn it of and it kinda fades out. Hold the button to adjust the dimming - it'll get brighter, then dimmer and then brighter again until you release the button to select your desired brightness. The dimming took a little longer than I expected - not sure if that was because of the halogen bulb or the lamp but it wasn't a big deal. I feel like the actual dimming is something that I'll set once and then not really need to adjust too often moving forward. Both the in and out outlets are two pronged only. Not sure if it needs to be for the dimming feature or if it's to discourage plugging in certain devices, but it's worth mentioning. There's a blue LED indicator on the outlet portion of it that'll tell you if it's getting power through it or if the unit is off. One thing to take into consideration is you can only use this in the top outlet of a standard two outlet wall plate. If you put it in the bottom outlet it'll block the top outlet. Operation is silent - this manufacturer's standard plug in lighting control without the dimming makes a pretty loud click when you turn it on or off - this dimming model does not, which is nice. The tether is long enough to give you plenty of placement options and the button is a little bit weighted and rubberized on the back, just enough to keep it in place on most surfaces, and there's a screw hole in case you want to mount it on the wall. One of the things that sets the button on this thing apart from other units I've bought like this is that the button is not flush mounted. It sits a little bit above the lip of the round enclosure for it as you can hopefully see in the picture) - in both the on and off positions - which means you can tap this with your foot unlike one other units I've bought in the past that require you to depress a button with your finger. It might not sound like much but you'll appreciate it if you end up locating the button on the floor somewhere.
