It’s a cool add-on if you splurged for the Twinkly Christmas tree lights this is an obvious choice. The different settings are all supposed to be in sync with the music but most of the pre sets leave something to be desired.

Not this is just the sound sensor you need to buy twinkly lights to go with it.Awesome, I love my flights plays to music it just makes me happy

Plugged the unit in and paired it with no issue. It’s fun to watch the leds interact with music or even random sound in the room. Very easy to use.

Giusto completamento per il mio impianto composto da 600 luci albero più due tende montate all'esterno. Una volta collegato alla rete ha riconosciuto subito i device e è bastato sceglierlo come effetto per comandare una o tutte le luci a tempo di musica

I bought this along with a few Twinkly light products. Easy to set up and pair to the lights. The microphone on it is quite sensitive and does pick up audio across the frequency spectrum so highs will trigger different lights to the lows... like a set of VU meters on a mixing desk. It's quite clever really. Note that it doesn't come with any form of power supply but basically any USB charger will power it. Quite impressed and actually, not bad value, particularly compared to the premium prices of Twinkly's lighting generally.

Trying to connect this device to a modern mesh Wi-Fi network is an exercise in futility. It just won't work if the mesh network combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks into one SSID (network name). This is a problem known in late 2017 by IOT device manufacturers and should not be an issue in late 2021 - but here we are with chipsets and software that still do not work correctly with modern mesh systems.I had to get an 8 year old Netgear router out of the closet, turn off 5 GHz, hook it up downstream from the mesh system and close to where the Twinkly music was going to be deployed. Even then, after multiple factory resets, the Twinkly would just not join the network using the standard method (connecting to the device using bluetooth from your phone, then providing the network credentials via the app over bluetooth). I have a 25 character network password and perhaps the firmware doesn't like it when transferred via bluetooth. I finally had to re-enable the deprecated and insecure WPS on the router and use that alternate to connect.After all that? It works great. It just needs a better, modern, Wi-Fi chipset and firmware.One other thing to be aware of is that the development of the app and firmware is quite out of sync with the documents you find on the web site. For example the web site goes into detail about music "drivers" such as "VU Meter" etc. and how to select them and what they are. These don't seem to exist anymore and a simpler (but less useful) selection of things like "dance", "pop", "Classical", etc. has replaced it. But the documentation does not mention this at all so development and documentation are well out of sync. It would be good to have the dev team be required to update documentation in sync with releases.Once you have it setup, this is a fun device.
