The first one we received was a dud. It initially connected fine, calibrated alright, etc. but as soon as we went to actually use it after the set up, it was just wonky. The colors were extremely dim and only part of the lights would work. Seemed as though there was a short somewhere.However, we reached out to Govee directly for their quick replacement in the app, and they sure were quick! They replied and asked us to do a few troubleshooting steps (which we already did, but appreciated the information nonetheless in case it was a quick fix cause you never know), and when nothing worked, they sent us a new one right away! They didn't even ask for the old one back, just said to toss it. Awesome customer service which reassures us we are investing in the right brand, and will continue purchasing products from Govee!Now that we have the new one, it has been GREAT! The colors as so vibrant, and when the screen is dark the lights go off. It really helps make your area more of a home theatre. Really easy to set up, and very customizable. The only complaint I have is regarding the camera. It doesn't really secure to the top of the screen. We have our TV mounted, and it tilts forward a little bit, so getting the camera to be properly positioned & stay put can be a bit of a challenge.

The kit comes with everything you may need to install. I used this on a 43” LG TV (UT75 Series LED, Model #43UT7590PUA) and it worked/fit great with no issues. The TV has limited space on the rear left (if facing screen) but it fits there with no issues and looks/performs perfect. Installation was a breeze and required no extra tools. I installed it while the the TV was mounted to a (full-motion) wall mount - I considered taking the TV off the wall for easier installation but I had zero issues with it being mounted while I installed the kit.I was surprised* how customizable everything once was downloading the app. I won’t be using it on “video” mode all that often, but it works well. The initial calibration took some time as the image showed up "broken" and I had to refresh it quite a few times - but once you calibrate it the first time you will not have to do it again. It’s got a ton of effect / theme options but you can also customize the solid light modes greatly in different regions - not just the colors but also the brightness of each region. I was impressed with all the options and ability to save themes you create.I’d definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for your first kit or to replace an older or dingy looking kit. This one looks great and doesn’t make the rear of the TV look tacky. The only change I would make would be to include some additional hardware to take care of any slack wire at the corners but that’s only noticeable from wide side angles and easy to fix yourself with any adhesive strips or electrical tape, etc. (it came with 2 spare clips and some spare double sided adhesive tape).TLDR; This is a fantastic high quality backlight with a ton of customizable features and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a backlight.* EDIT: I edited my review to fix a spelling mistake.

Well, I’ve always wanted to spoil myself with some fancy interactive LED lights. I was only aware of philips hue but I was hesitant to purchase it since it was quite expensive and required multiple other devices from Philips to get the interactive light working. After some research, I came across this beauty and I was quite surprised by the raving reviews of this product. I recently bought a Hisense 55” ULED tv so I figured I’d go a step further and elevate my movie experience with this product. I must say, this product kills it! It took a while to attach it to the back of my TV with precision and attach all of the cables, hub and whatnot and neatly hide the cables. Once it was attached, the whole calibration process wasn’t as much of a hassle as I thought. All I had to do was attach the orange cubes around the screen (I decided not to use the youtube video since I couldn’t see it well enough through the camera). Once the calibration was done, the app was fairly easy to use albeit with a lot of options that may confuse you. I fired it up and was blown away at the color reproduction! I did find it a little too saturated and found the colors a little off but after a quick google search, I was able to locate the saturation and color balance settings in app. After a bit of tweaking, following the youtube video from Govee ( I highly recommend using the color calibration video that plays different colors to check the color representation) I was able to get it spot on. Not only does Govee offer insane amount of customisation, they also offer comprehensive video support to help you along the way. If you have any questions, just head over to their youtube channel and you’ll most likely find all the answers you’re looking for. Overall, I’m quite impressed with the product and I find myself unnecessarily grinning like a child every time I watch television in the night! Quick note - this is only good at night time with no lights on. If you have lights on, it’ll start reflecting those colors, so please turn on any lights in and around the television. It gets bright enough to not require any additional lights)

This is my first TV Backlight and I have had it for about a week and overall I am very happy given the price and performance. I do not use it for gaming so my only experience is using it while watching movies and as backlight.First, I want to make you aware there are three types of RGB lights that I commonly see in LED strip lights and while most are referred to as RGB lights there are important difference between them. I have included a brief summary below that I hope simplifies the different types. RGB: These are the cheapest type of RGB lights and have been around the longest. The main advantages to these besides price is that most traditional RGB light strips can be easily cut thus making customizing size very easy. The main cons tend to be brightness and that they tend to be poor at producing warm white light.RGBIC: These are a newer RGB technology and are becoming the new standard in RGB products. They are brighter and are more controllable than traditional RGB lights. The main drawbacks are that they tend to be more expensive, are still not very good at producing warm white light, and depending on manufacturer and type may not be able to be cut thus not customizable in size.RGBIC+W: These are a newer RGB technology and maintains all the pros of RGBIC leds but the addition of a W led allows them to produce a better warm white light. The tend to be even more expensive than RGBIC lights and are slowly being rolled out in newer products. I believe they will eventually replace RGBIC LEDs in most line ups than currently use RGBIC LEDs.I think most people that don't game will end up using the backlight as a regular TV backlight for the added ambiance/light about 80% of the time and using it in movie/music mode 20% of the time where the backlight changes colors because of this for me personally and for a lot of people the fact this has RGBIC+W LEDs make this the best choice currently on the market. Set up was easy and the app works easily with the light. The movie mode is good with action movies and it adds another element of immersion but I don't use it and imagine most people don't use it in movie mode while watching the news or dramas. Also, while I don't watch many anime/cartoon shows, I can see that it would be great with that type of content both because of the colors that they use and because they tend to be produced in aspect ratios that take up the whole screen. I have multiple modes saved and on movies with black bars I have the relative brightness on both the top and bottom strips set to 1%. The standard color mode that I use 80% of the time is great as it allows me to have indirect warm white light which adds to the ambiance of the room and provides light but as it is behind the TV doesn't cause any "washing out" of the TV light. For me this replaces a lamp plus has the additional sync function for watching movies and playing games makes it a good price to performance value. My only complaint is that in 2023/2024 it should have a higher LED density of 60/m versus the 30/m it has. I am sure that we will see that higher density as well as RGBIC+W on the next generation the dual camera model and Sync Box. The lower density is why I give it 4 versus 5 stars otherwise it's an overall good value.
