Im sure these are good and accurate temp probes, but they are not leak proof at all! They are made for blind holes or holes where they can touch the bottom. Since the thread is 1/4-20 tpi, rather uncommon for pipe threads, I wasted my time and materials drilling and tapping into stainless pipe fittings before realizing they are not leak proof. Water or gaz will seep through the probe. The lack of proper description is quite frustrating. There’s a ton of similar stuff available on Amazon all using the same picture and they will all leak too, so beware. If I’d known I would have ordered 1/8 npt probes and not waste my money, but now it’s too late to even get refunded. Grrrr….

I have now used these sensors in several different setups at temperature settings ranging roughly from room temp up to 400F or so. They have performed exactly as intended, and all continue to function perfectly after several years. If you need sensors of this basic design, these will do the job very well in my experience. Highly recommended.

One sensor read 6 degrees off and the other was off by 8 degrees. K type thermo couples should have a tolerance of +/- .2%. So for example when readying temp of ice it should read between 32.2 to 31.8 degrees. I got a reading of 26 degrees and 24 degrees for my 2 probes. Amazon should really test these products before filling the US land fills.

The threadded section is not one piece, and does not create an air seal. Would probably work just fine on an plenum system, but I purchased them to screw into a water pipe. After using a bit of epoxy I was able to seal the inner free piece to the outer screwed piece and was able to get it water tight to 30 psig.Actually, if I used it for an air plenum, the free inner piece keeps you from tangling the wire when tightening, which is a nice feature. I hooked to a K type PLC module input, and it reads just fine.
