  • 【Version】This capacitive analog soil moisture sensor is V1.2
  • 【Voltage】Working voltage: 3.3~5.5 VDC, output voltage: 0~3.0 VDC
  • 【Interface】Interface: PH2.54-3P, Pin: Analog signal output, GND, VCC
  • 【Feature】Capacitive humidity sensor has good linearity, good repeatability, small hysteresis, fast response, small size, and can be used at - 10 ℃ - 60 ℃ humidity environment
  • 【Comparision】This capacitive soil humidity sensor is different from most of the resistive sensors. It uses the capacitive sensing principle to detect soil humidity, avoiding the problem that the resistive sensor is easily corroded, and greatly extending its working life.

Product Description

Capacitive Analog Soil Moisture Sensor Module

Capacitive Analog Soil Moisture Sensor Module

  • The sensor has a built-in regulator chip, which supports a wide voltage working environment of 3.3~5.5V, which means that it can work normally even on the 3.3V Arduino main control board.
  • The iconic DFRobot-Gravity interface ensures the compatibility of the interface and can be directly connected to the Gavity IO expansion board.
  • Micro PCs such as raspberry pie can work only by connecting an ADC (analog signal to digital signal) conversion module.

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: DC 3.3-5.5V
  • Output Voltage: DC 0-3.0V
  • Interface: PH2.0-3P
  • Size: 99mmx16mm/3.9"x0.63"
  • Supports 3-Pin Gravity Sensor interface
  • Analog output

Applications:

  • Garden plants
  • Moisture detection
  • Intelligent agriculture
  • Horticulture
  • Environmental monitoring

It can be used to monitor soil moisture levels in real-time, allowing farmers and gardeners to optimize their watering schedules and prevent over or under-watering. The sensor can also be used to monitor soil moisture levels in areas where water conservation is important, such as in drought-prone regions.

Package included

  • 5 X Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensors
  • 5 X Analog Sensor Cables

Capacitive Analog Soil Moisture Sensor Module

  • GND to GND
  • VCC to 5V
  • AUOT to A0

Capacitive Analog Soil Moisture Sensor Module

  • The capacitance of the soil moisture sensor varies depending on the amount of moisture present in the soil.
  • When the soil is dry, the capacitance of the sensor is low, while when the soil is wet, the capacitance is high.

Capacitive Analog Soil Moisture Sensor Module

  • The soil moisture sensor can be connected to an analog input on a microcontroller or other electronic circuit to provide a voltage or current signal that corresponds to the soil moisture level.

Testing them indoors for about a month went very well. I guess it's time to get the epoxy out and waterproof the electronics so they can be moved outside. For the signal output, half the input voltage (before any voltage drop for wiring) is an excellent saturation level for plants in potting soil. So it seems like they put some effort into the design.

A great product that works as it should. I'm using as part of a DIY automated garden watering system controlled by an Arduino.Only downside is the board and parts are not coated to make it waterproof. I solved that by coating the board and connector with several coats of PCB confirmal coating.Recommend.

Purchased these to build some soil sensors. All 5 worked just fine. They do need to be calibrated (using dry air and a cup of water) or there is some inter-sensor variability. Overall very effective for a good price. A version with some waterproofing/conformal coating of the circuitry would be nice. I would have paid a few bucks more for that option.

These work as expected. Some modules of this design are known to have a manufacturing defect, but these were all fine (well, other than the silkscreen spelling of "Capacitive").

These are a pretty cool and fun addition to the Arduino sensor kits. These are super easy to use and program for monitoring your garden or potted plants. I plan I making a garden monitoring system with these, but I have been too caught up with farm work to get around to it yet, but these are a very simple concept that will be very easy to work with once I get the free time.
